1) Write a note on nuclear radius and give the formula for characteristic radius of a nucleus.
2) In a given sample, at some instant the rate of disintegration of radioactive element is 8000 disintegrations per second.
At this instant the number of undusuntegrated nuclei of this element is 8 x 107 . Find the decay constant and half life of
this element.
3) What is zener effect ? Explain.
4) In a mixture of two radioactive elements A and B, the decay constant of A is 0.1(day)–1 and that of B is
0.2 (day)–1 . The initial activity of A is twice that of B. Find the activity of this mixture after 10 days. Initial activity of
