Assignment #1 in CHEM 002

BSCE Submitted: June 16, 2016

1. State a Problem

- According to http://www.conserve-energy-future.com/15-current-
environmental-problems.php, waste disposal and public health issue
(Dirty water) is a threat to our environment and even the well-beings of
human. So the problem is how can our community unconsciously dispose
waste material properly and what can we do to help them? What can we
do to keep our water clean anytime?

2. Plan of Action

- As an engineer, I want to construct a water system that can immediately

filter and clean dirty water coming from human waste and rain. In this
project, human waste and rain can be clean in a short amount of time,
which will reduce toxic water circulating in our environment. Also, I want
to construct houses and buildings that connect their trash bins
(recyclable and non-recyclable materials) to a single dumpsite for every
barangay where this dumpsite recycle those materials that can recycle
and turn non-recyclable materials into energy.

3. Course of Action

 Constructing a water system

o First, I have to request to the president if he will allow that every

barangay/district to have it’s own water treatment, water
distribution and sewage treatment.

o Second, if the president allows this of course I have to ask for

funds or instead I should look for investors. Based on the price I
found in Google. It may cost 21 Billion so that every district in the
Philippines can have it’s own water treatment.

o Third, if I have the money to use for this project, I have to

construct it. This may take 10 – 20 years to finish.

o Lastly, if it’s done every district can process it’s own water coming
from human waste and rain. By using this water system, the water
we use from our home/office will be directed to the water system
of our district and once it’s clean we can distribute it again.
 Constructing a single dumpsite for every barangay

o First, I have to request to the president if he will allow this project.

o Second, I’ll ask for funds, look for investor and ask companies that
turn waste into energy such as Covanta Energy, Novo Energy and
many more (Source: http://www.conserve-energy-
future.com/waste-to-energy.php)
o Third, Every barangay should provide at least 0.0496 hectares for
the dumpsite.
o Fourth, construct a connected trash bin from every house and
buildings. Doing this is like constructing a sewer line that connects
every construction. This will cost much but it can save a lot of
money in the future. So, investment in this project is highly
encouraged.
o Lastly, after doing this to every barangay, since every waste can
turn into energy we can save a lot of energy and this can be use to
persuade the people to throw trash and it will reduce their electric
bill.
