The students conducted an experiment to observe how the human body regulates temperature homeostasis. They had a subject sit in room temperature, outside in the cold, and do light exercise, then measured the subject's temperature with a thermal camera after each session. Their results showed that the subject's internal body temperature remained around 97 degrees Fahrenheit, while their external temperature varied from a low of 78 degrees when outside in the cold to a high of 92 degrees after room temperature. This supported the students' hypothesis that the body keeps internal temperature constant while allowing external temperature to fluctuate in response to environmental conditions.

Abstract: The purpose of this study is to see how the body reacts to different temperatures and to see if the body can maintain a relatively constant temperature. We believe that this will show our class how the body regulates heat. Our hypothesis is that our body will keep our internal heat constant but the outside of our body will change slightly.
Introduction: Homeostasis is the physiological process that maintains an equilibrium between interdependent elements in the human body. With our system, body temperature regulation, several organs are involved in maintaining a constant temperature. The main organ is the skin to cool down, and to heat up the muscles are the most important. The blood vessels will contract to keep heat in, and the blood vessels will expand to get rid of heat.
Methods: For our procedure, we had the subject sit in room temperature for ten minutes, sit outside for ten minutes, and to run two laps on the track. We used a thermal camera to measure his body temperature after he did each of the procedures. In more clear steps the subject must - make the subject go into an area for 10 minutes that is colder than 3 degrees than room temperature where room temperature is 70 degrees fahrenheit -test subject’s temperature by correctly using a temperature camera on the head of the subject -record data -make the subject go into a room temperature area for 10 minutes -test subject’s temperature by correctly using a temperature camera on the head of the subject -make subject run at an appropriate mile pace(this will depend on the subject) for two laps around a standard american track -test subject’s temperature by correctly using a temperature camera on the head of the subject -analyze and organize data in appropriate format Results: After the subject ran two laps, his body temperature reached 97 degrees fahrenheit, and his lowest temperature was 78. When he sat outside in the cold, his temperature reached 86, and when he sat in a room for ten minutes, his temperature reached 92 degrees.
Discussion: We learned that the body does indeed keep the internal body heat the same because the subject did not die from a fever or anything similar, and that the external body temperature became lower in cold temperatures and hotter in warm.
