INTERNET PRIVACY

BRIEF
After the Facebook/ Cambridge
Analytica scandal, people are thinking
about their privacy online more than
ever. However, not many people fully
understand how to protect their right to
privacy and anonymity on the internet.
Design something to educate people
about staying protected online.

SOLUTION
An educational leaflet describing the
main tools that can be freely used to
stay protected online. This would include
things like VPN, Tor and encryption.
GREENER CHOICES

BRIEF
Seemingly everything these days comes
wrapped in plastic, even food produce
that comes in its own natural packaging.
Find a way to encourage consumers
to make greener choices while out
shopping..

SOLUTION
A new rating system that grades
products on a scale of 0-10 based on
how environmentally friendly they
are. This would include production,
recyclability, and how harmful the
materials are. Having this rating
displayed on products would help push
consumers to buy greener alternatives
to their usual purchases.
SOMETHING FROM
NOTHING

BRIEF
One of the biggest offenders when it
comes to unsustainable design is toys.
They are often manufactured using
too many different materials, plastics
that cannot be recycled and hard to
get to electronic components. This
creates problems when it comes to
recycling. Find a way to encourage more
sustainable design for toys for younger
children.

SOLUTION
An app that hosts user-submitted
instructions to create new toys out
of common household packaging
waste (tins, bottles, boxes etc.). This
would show children that just because
something has completed its initial
purpose, that doesn’t mean it can’t then
be used to create something new.
CONNECTED
CORNWALL

BRIEF
Promote the growing technology sector
in Cornwall to make it seem like the
new ‘Silicon Valley’.

SOLUTION
A website based visual directory of
companies in the region. This would
allow consumers to connect with them,
businesses to talk to each other and see
what’s around them, and also encourage
people to rent or buy property to set up
their own business.
PUBLICATION

BRIEF
We were given content for a publication
to be handed out at a typography
convention. we were tasked with putting
it all together, editing and laying out
the text, and creating numerous gallery
responses to the articles inside.

SOLUTION
My response was to keep any
illustrations fun and text-related,
but also minimalistic to reduce oany
distraction from the actual text.
TYPE TALKS
POSTERS

BRIEF
Based on information I had been given
in the form of some text, I had to create
three different posters promoting ‘War
of the Words’.

SOLUTION
Three unique posters that have been
created using text alone. This helps to
suggest the theme of the event itself.
ATLANTIC EDGE

BRIEF
My own band required branding,
including a logo and some posters. The
posters are to advertise an upcoming
single as well as a seperate poster for a
tour.

SOLUTION
To reflect the serious and refined sound
we were going for in the music, I made
use of sharp lines and thin typefaces.
PERSONAL
#EB677A #009A93 #EAE8E9 #5E5E5E BRANDING

BRIEF
To create a brand that represents
‘outside the box’ thinking. I wanted a
versatile logo, colour scheme, business
cards and an online presence.

SOLUTION
To illustrate this ‘outside the box’
thinking, I made my logo look like a
physical box. It can also represent
building ideas and creativity. I also made
my business cards to be folded out into
cubes. This makes them easier to display
and makes them stand out.
