Intention: By the end of this lesson, students should successfully be able to complete an overhead mark and a chest mark
Pre-lesson organisation:
- Check the weather
- Check safety of location (bees/ants/accessibility)
- Bring out equipment and first aid
- Make sure all balls are pumped up
- Set up two lines parallel to each other with a cone on each end (15m) and have the lines 15m from each other
Equipment: (Based on 24 Students)
- 16x Cones
- 12x Footballs
- Bibs
- Whistle

• Take the ball into hands with
fingers spread and thumbs
close together à advanced
• Bring ball to chest à beginners
• Hug ball tightly
Explained as if there were 12 on each CHANGE IT UP
team. There are 6 players at each end. • Increase distance
The teams are numbered 1-6 and 7-12. • Add more balls
The ball is kicked to a high spot • Call more numbers
between the 12 players at one end (by
a feeder). As the ball is kicked the
teacher calls out 2 numbers at random
and these two players compete for the
mark. After each repetition, the ball is
kicked to the opposite end and the
teacher calls out a new set of numbers
• “No kick” if the flight of the ball
favours one
• 1 point scored for a mark or
free kick
• Winner is the team with most
points

(3 mins) • Get two students to demonstrate their best overhand and chest mark in front of the class
• Ask students what good things they saw the students do in the different types of marks, demonstrating what they
learnt today/KTPs
• Ask students which activity their favorite was, do this by calling out the name of the activity and students raiding
their hands
