Grade 8 Lesson Plan (Classes of Nouns)

I. Objectives:

At the end of this session the students should be able to:


1. establish knowledge on the classes of nouns
2. engage to fun collaborative activities
3. apply the classes of nouns in different activities.

II. Contents:
A. Subject Matter: Establishing knowledge on the classes of nouns through different
activities
B. Materials: powerpoint presentation, pictures
C. References: Grade 8 Module

III. Procedure
A. Daily Routine:

Checking of attendance

B. Review

Four Pictures and One Word with a Twist


1. Group the learners into two (4) groups.
2. Each group will have one representative each round.
3. Each round the teacher will present pictures.
4. The learners will guess the word the pictures represent.
5. Since the game is with a twist, the four pictures will not be posted at once but one by
one.
6. If the group representative guessed the word right at the 1st picture he will get
4points, for 2nd picture 3points, for 3rd picture 2points and for the last picture 1point.
7. The group with the most number of points wins.
8. Process the learners’ output and use it as a springboard to review the definition of
nouns and introduce the classes of nouns.

C. Lesson Development:
Recall all the words formed from the game.

Use these words to discuss the classes of nouns (proper and common nouns)

D. Application:
The Write Words
1. Using the same (4) groups.
2. Each group will have two representatives each round.
3. Each round the teacher will give different categories from Proper to Common Nouns.
4. The students will give 20 seconds each round.
5. The students will write as many words as they can on the board
6. The group with the most number of correct words win.

Check the output of the groups for further discussion.

IV. Evaluation:
Establish knowledge on the classes of nouns by answering all around the words
test.
All Around the Words
1. Arrange the chairs in circle.
2. Prepare the students to answer different questions on classes of nouns.
3. Each chair is considered as station 1 to 10.
4. Each station has 3 words that they need to identify whether proper or common
nouns.
5. Every 10 seconds the students will need to travel station 1 to station 10 to finish the
all around the words test.

V. Assignment:
Write 10 sentences using proper and common nouns.
