RESEARCH INTERESTS: I study interactions among soils, ecological disturbance, plant communities,
and ecosystem function. I approach research questions in the laboratory and field, spanning spatial and
temporal scales. I am particularly interested in how fire, grazing, and land use change affect the health
and stability of grassland, savanna, and forest ecosystems.
