Chapter 3

METHODOLOGY

This chapter deals with the research design and methodology,

location of the study, respondents of the study’s research instrument, data

gathering procedure, sampling procedure, scoring procedure, and

statistical treatment.

Research Design

Descriptive research survey was used in this study to gather the

data; the survey will be conducted to the Grade 7 students of the

different secondary schools in Doroluman, Arakan, Cotabato who are

officially enrolled during the School Year 2018-2019.

Locale of the Study

This study will be conducted at the Grade 7 students of different

secondary schools in Doroluman, Arakan, Cotabato who are officially

enrolled during the School Year 2018-2019.

Respondent of the Study

The respondents of this study will be the Grade 7 students of

different secondary schools in Doroluman, Arakan, Cotabato who are

officially enrolled during the School Year 2018-2019.


Research Instrument

The instrument that will be used in gathering data for this

investigation will be a questionnaire checklist.

Part I consists the socio-demographic profile such as age, sex,

residence, family status, tribe, and religion.

Part II consists the influencing factors such as personal,

environmental, parents, and peers.

Part III consists the factors contributing to students’ misbehaviour

and the coping up strategies of the secondary school teachers in

Doroluman.

5- Always 3- Sometimes 1- Never

4- Oftentimes 2- Rarely

Data Gathering Procedure

Permission will asked from the Principals of the different secondary

schools of Doroluman, Arakan, Cotabato. The researcher will also ask

permission from the teachers who are handling the Grade 7 students for

scheduling in the distribution of the questionnaire; questionnaire will be

distributed to all respondents with the assistance of the teacher. For more

understanding on every part of the questionnaire, it will be filled-up by the

respondents. The researcher will explain the content and the purpose of

the study. The respondents will be given time to answer.

Sampling Technique

Purposive sampling procedure will be used which means that all

Grade 7 section students of Doroluman will serve as respondents of the

study.

Statistical Treatment

The data will be tallied, tabulated, and statistically treated. The

following statistical treatments will be used: frequency, percentage, and

ranking will be used to answer on the socio-demographic profile and the

environmental influence. Multiple linear regression techniques and fisher-

exact test will be used to determine the relationship between the

independent and dependent variables.
