Application How do you relate meiosis in the production of egg cell in women and sperm cell in men?
I. OBJECTIVES:
Knowledge: Identify the different stages of meiosis
Skills: Construct a model of the phases of meiosis
Attitudes: Recognize the biological importance of meiosis
II. Materials
Clay (preferably in different colors)
III. Procedure
1. Go to your respective group.
2. Prepare the materials as instructed by the teacher/facilitator.
3. Ask from the teacher/facilitator the phase of mitosis that will be assigned to the group.
4. Make a 3D model of the different stages of meiosis using a clay and use the pictures below as guide.
Group 1: Prophase I Group 5: Prophase II
Group 2: Metaphase I Group 6: Metaphase II
Group 3: Anaphase I Group 7: Anaphase II
Group 4: Telophase I and Cytokinesis Group 8: Telophase II and Cytokinesis
IV. Analysis
1. What is meiosis?
