 Utilization
 SnapShot Copies
 Alerts
 FlexClone Savings
To view database and storage performance, you can either enter the IP address, FQDN, or short
name of the storage system while defining the NFS mount point of the database host. The FQDN of
the storage system is the fully qualified domain name and the short name is the alias name of the
storage system. For example, if the FQDN is fas2040-197-42.host_name, the short name is fas2040-
197-42.
When the plug-in agent initiates the collection of “network interface list” metric, the
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is generated at the
agent_install_path/plugins/netapp.storage.sys.agent.plugin_12.1.0.2.1/scripts/data/7mode/IP_a
ddress location.
The StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file contains the short name along with the corresponding IP
address and FQDN of the host and an unique interface name. An example of a
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is:
<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress="10.72.197.42" interfaceName="e0a"/>
Installation and Administration Guide | 52

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0b"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0c"/>

<ManualMapping>false</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

If you enter a short name that is different from FQDN while defining the NFS mount point, you must
manually add the short name in the StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file by performing the following
steps:
1. Open the StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file.
2. Enter the short name that you specified while defining the NFS mount point.
3. Change the default interface name.
4. Change the value to true for the ManualMapping tag.
For example, if the FQDN is fas2040-197-42.host_name and you have entered the short name as
fas2040Storage, edit the file as follows:
<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-42.host_name"

ipAddress="IP_address" interfaceName="e0a"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="true" shortname="fas2040Storage" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress=" IP_address " interfaceName="e0a1"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned" ipAddress="Not Assigned"

interfaceName="e0b"/>

<ManualMapping>true</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

 Utilization
 SnapShot Copies
 Alerts
To view database and storage performance, you can either enter the IP address, FQDN, or short
name of the storage system while defining the NFS mount point of the database host. The FQDN of
the storage system is the fully qualified domain name and the short name is the alias name of the
storage system. For example, if the FQDN is fas2040-197-42.host_name, the short name is fas2040-
197-42.
When the plug-in agent initiates the collection of “network interface list” metric, the
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is generated at the
agent_install_path/plugins/netapp.storage.sys.agent.plugin_12.1.0.2.1/scripts/data/7mode/IP_a
ddress location.
The StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file contains the short name along with the corresponding IP
address and FQDN of the host and an unique interface name. An example of a
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is:
<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress="10.72.197.42" interfaceName="e0a"/>
Installation and Administration Guide | 70

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0b"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="false" shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0c"/>

<ManualMapping>false</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-42.host_name"

ipAddress="IP_address" interfaceName="e0a"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping="true" shortname="fas2040Storage" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress=" IP_address " interfaceName="e0a1"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned" ipAddress="Not Assigned"

interfaceName="e0b"/>

<ManualMapping>true</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

For example, if the FQDN is fas2040-197-42.host_name, the short name is fas2040-
197-42.
When the plug-in agent initiates the collection of “network interface list” metric, the
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is generated at the
agent_install_path/plugins/netapp.storage.sys.agent.plugin_12.1.0.2.1/scripts/data/vserver/IP_
address location.
The StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file contains the short name along with the corresponding IP
address and FQDN of the host and an unique interface name. An example of a
StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file is:
<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping=”false” shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress="10.72.197.42" interfaceName="e0a"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping=”false” shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0b"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping=”false” shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned"

ipAddress="Not Assigned" interfaceName="e0c"/>

<ManualMapping>false</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

If you enter a short name that is different from FQDN while defining the NFS mount point, you mus
manually add the short name in the StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file by performing the following
steps:
1. Open the StorageIPAddressMapping.xml file.
2. Enter the short name that you specified while defining the NFS mount point.
3. Change the default interface name.
4. Change the value to true for the ManualMapping tag.
93 | Installation and Administration Guide

For example, if the FQDN is fas2040-197-42.host_name and you have entered the short name as
fas2040Storage, edit the file as follows:
<storageIPAddressMapping>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="fas2040-197-42" fqdnName="fas2040-197-42.host_name"

ipAddress="IP_address" interfaceName="e0a"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo manualMapping=”true” shortname="fas2040Storage" fqdnName="fas2040-197-

42.host_name" ipAddress="IP_address" interfaceName="e0a1"/>

<InterfaceMappingInfo shortname="Not Assigned" fqdnName="Not Assigned" ipAddress="Not Assigned"

interfaceName="e0b"/>

<ManualMapping>true</ManualMapping>
</storageIPAddressMapping>

13 Corrective actions
Corrective actions allow administrators to specify automated responses to alerts or policy violations.
Corrective actions ensure that routine responses to alerts or policy violations are automatically executed,
thereby saving administrator time and ensuring problems are dealt with before they noticeably impact
users. You can set corrective actions for both warning and critical severities.
Corrective actions are not defined, by default. You can define correction actions for different performance
metrics. When the performance metrics value reaches the threshold value, the corrective action is
automatically initiated.
For more information, see the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c documentation.

14 Grouping storage systems

The grouping of storage systems helps administrators to monitor and manage multiple storage systems
as one unit.
Perform the following steps to create a group:

Installation and Administration Guide | 128

15 Metric retention policy

The NetApp storage system plug-in manages NetApp storage systems in Enterprise Manager Cloud
Control environment and stores the monitoring metric data in Oracle Enterprise Manager repository.
Similarly, other target types also store information in the Oracle Enterprise Manager repository. Therefore,
a large amount of data is stored in the Oracle Enterprise Manager repository which might result in poor
performance of Enterprise Manager (EM).
Therefore, a default policy is defined by EM for purging data from the repository. These purge policies in
EM are defined globally and applicable for all target types managed by EM. The data is purged after 31
days, by default.
For more information, see the Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c documentation.

publisher, you can view it.
Installation and Administration Guide | 130

Description Workaround
This issue occurs because of few limitations with BI
publisher PL or SQL programming.

For example, if the mount point is

/FIN/VOL/DATAVOL/DIR/mnt/FINDB/DATA1,
/FIN/VOL/DATAVOL is the junction path, and DIR is the
qtree; the discovery of volumes fail and thus reports
are not displayed. However, if the mount point was
/FIN/VOL/DATAVOL, then the discovery operation is
successful and the reports are displayed.
If the SAN Discovery Server is started using the below Navigate to the folder
command the server will not start properly: “/opt/NetApp/sds/bin” and start the
service using below command:
/opt/NetApp/sds/bin/netapp/netappsandiscoveryservice.sh

The issue occurs because of the access limitations with

the required libraries while starting the server. You will
see the below message in the
“/opt/NetApp/sds/log/sds_server_console.log” file.
