 Babies Read, Play, and Learn
A short lap-sit story time for children from birth to walking with an adult caregiver. The
program includes rhymes, songs, movement activities, and books to promote language
development and positive interactions between parent and child.
Attendance is limited*.
Toddlers Read, Play, and Learn
A short story time for children walking to 36 months with an adult caregiver. The
program includes stories, books, movement activities, nursery rhymes, and music to
promote vocabulary building and comprehension. Attendance is limited*.
Young Children Read, Play, and Learn
This story time is for children birth to 5 years with an adult caregiver. The program
includes stories, books, movement activities, nursery rhymes, and songs that promote
language development, vocabulary building, and comprehension.

Story Art
This story time is for children birth to 5 years with an adult caregiver. This program
includes songs, stories, and explorations that promote basic art skills while
incorporating pre-literacy skills for reading and writing. Attendance is limited*.

minute story and song.
MOSH presents The Five Senses
Science educators from the Museum of Science & History will join us in the Terry
Children’s Theater for an Early Literacy program about The Five Senses: sight, sound,
smell, taste, and touch! To coincide with Bookfest 2019 and our featured authors,
R. L. Stine and Mike Thaler, this program will highlight the creepy parts of our 5 senses.

Art Creations (R+R)
Let your imagination run wild in this inventive and engaging program as we make
sculptures, collages, mobiles, and more. Meet new friends, gain confidence and have
some fun as new techniques are mastered. Ages 5 to 12. Attendance is limited*.
Kids’ Books On The Big Screen: Goosebumps
Join us for a book talk, fun activity, and movie at our book-to-film book club just for
kids! This month to help us get ready for Jax Book Fest, we’re reading Goosebumps by
R. L. Stine. The film, Goosebumps, was rated PG in 2015 for scary and intense creature
action and images, and for some rude humor. Ages 5 to 12. Attendance is limited*.
Books and Bricks: Augusta Savage Sculpts! (And So Can You!)
This program will introduce school age children to local sculptor Augusta Savage, her
role in the Harlem Renaissance, her work for equal rights in the arts, as well as her
teaching studio fostering a rising generation of artists. Children will create a
collaborative Lego display and discuss her life and career. All materials will be
provided, just bring your creativity and excitement.
Ages 5 to 12. Attendance is limited to 25 participants*.
Family Crafternoon
Join us for a seasonally-themed craft for the whole family! This monthly art time is
open to all ages and will provide a fun chance to make a themed craft that you can
take home. All ages. Attendance is limited*.
JAX BOOK FEST
Jacksonville’s literary event of the year will return on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2019! The
Jax Book Fest is back for its third year in a row. The event features children’s
authors R. L. Stine and Mike Thaler, book sales, children’s activities and more.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
(R+R) A Ride to Read Program
Children 8 to 12 who participate in selected library programs will be eligible to
receive a JTA Star Card city bus pass good for one day. Use it to get to your
next JPL program!
