RED RIBBON WEEK Thank you to everyone who has joined Pattison PTA so far. We are
October 25-29 not done yet, but our membership numbers are on the upswing,
which is very good news for Pattison. Did you know that through

Volunteer of the Month:
Becky Nichols of Kindergarten Centers
We would like to say a big thank you to all our Sep-
tember volunteers at Pattison. We clocked 1020
hours on campus for the month of September and
390 off-campus hours.
Well done to everyone. That is an amazing
job and we really could not do all we do
without you.
As a new venture this year, we would like
to offer the volunteer of the month the use
of the Holt Family parking spot at the
front of the school. However, to make sure this spot
is utilized , if you are a Kindergarten parent helping
with Centers on a day that Becky will not be there,
you may use this spot until the end of October on a
first-come-first-serve basis! Congratulations.
I will be nominating all volunteer areas throughout
the school year. If you know someone who is de-
serving of our Volunteer of the Month award, please
do not hesitate to contact me. We really are fortu-
nate that so many of you are willing and able to help
at school and at home. Thank you for your contin-
ued support.

Pouches
Kindergarten is collecting Capri
-Sun brand juice pouches for our Kindergarten cen-
ters. We are working with Terracycle recycling to
earn money for our centers.
Please save your Capri Suns and turn them into the
marked Terracycle bins in the cafeteria! Help save
our planet and earn money for your school!
Red Ribbon Week
Returns to Pattison
Pattison Elementary will once
again participate in Red Ribbon
week in recognition of our con-
tinuing support to help create a drug-free Texas.
In addition to the drug-free spirit days planned, we
will also be collecting food items to help Katy
Christian Ministries stock their food pantry. Please
refer to the flyer that came home in communica-
tion folders detailing the food items requested.
Here is the drug-free spirit day schedule for Red
Ribbon Week 2010:
Monday: Celebrate a drug-free life! Wear all red.
Tuesday: I’m a “jean”ius; I’m drug free! Wear blue
jeans.
Wednesday: I can, you can, we can stay drug free!
Help stock the food pantry.
Thursday: Sock it to drugs! Wear mismatched or
crazy socks.
Friday: Look at me, I’m drug free! Wear cool
shades.
Muffins with Mom: Marvelous
We managed to go through over
800 of those giant muffins. Thanks
to everyone who helped make it
such a success. I want to also thank
those dads who came up to help
serve the moms: Luis Garcia, Philip
Brunet, and Maurice Mullaly. I
know the moms enjoyed being waited on for a
change.

Deadline for PTA Reflections Nears
If your child wants to participate in this year’s PTA
Reflections contest, “Together We Can”, entries are
due Friday, October 29. Use the guide below be-
fore turning in your entries. Pattison will submit
entries in two Grade Divisions: 1) Primary: pre-
school – Grade 2 and 2) Intermediate: Grades 3-5.
All entries will be recognized and some pieces will
move on to Council and possibly State Level.

Volunteering Made EASY at Pattison Elementary

We are trying to make it as easy as possible for you to plan and to volunteer at school. We
know it is sometimes hard to plan months in advance. Sometimes you have unexpected free
-time. Our website Calendar located on our Home page now has volunteer opportunities
highlighted with at VOL in the description of the event (for example: VOL: School
Store). Just glance at the upcoming week, click on the event that has a VOL before it and
click on more details. Here you will find contact information for the person in charge.
Many times, you can just show-up to help. We love our volunteers and would LOVE to have you!
