AlpTransit Gotthard is creating a flat rail link for future travel through the Alps. At the heart of the new transalpine rail route
is Gotthard Base Tunnel. With a length of 57 km, the world’s longest tunnel should become operational at the end of 2016.

Sika is involved in this project since more than 15 years. Already during Sika Solutions
the design phase Sika’s engineers could provide valuable consultancy Sika® ViscoCrete® Superplasticiser
services for the concrete and sprayed concrete systems as well as for Sigunit® Shotcrete Accelerator
the complete waterproofing concept. Through an extremely complex SikaTard® Long Time Retarder
pre qualification procedure, Sika qualified for the supply of material Sika®-PM Shotcrete Spraying System
to the Gotthard project. Sika system solutions have been used since Aliva® TBM-Robotor
1994 during the construction of the sounding tunnel and since the end SikaPlan® Waterproofing Membrane
of 2002, Sika concrete admixtures, Sika-PM shotcrete systems, Aliva- Sikacrete® Fire Protection Mortar
TBM robots and SikaPlan waterproofing concepts are being supplied to
numerous construction lots.
