CAREER AND TECHNOLOGY STUDIES

C0NSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGIES
INTERMEDIATE

General Information:
 The Intermediate Construction Technologies class consists of five modules. You
will have a theory and practical component for each course.
 The practical portion must be completed in the school shop.
 Completing the theory portion of the modules:
 The theory portion will be completed in class (on line) on designated
days. These assignments must be completed before you will be able to
work in the shop on the project relating to these.
 The assignments are located in Brightspace and are to be submitted
through the appropriate “Dropbox” in Brightspace. Your teacher will show
you where these are located. Submitting assignments: If you complete
an assignment for CON2130 Box Construction, the assignment is
submitted in the “Dropbox” in that module. Likewise for the other modules
you will complete.
 The theory portion will be completed independently by the students. You
may work collaboratively on these, but must each submit their own copy
to their own dropbox.
 If you have down time in the lab, start working on the next assignment to
make efficient use of time.
 All course outlines, notes, and assignments will be posted in the main
Brightspace Construction page and accessed by clicking on the “Content”
tab in “Resources”. KEEP CHECKING YOUR BRIGHTSPACE (D2L) for
updates!!
 You have to wear safety glasses when in the shop.
 You will need a pencil for every class.
 Footwear for working in the Construction Lab is closed toe shoes and low heels.
 You are responsible for finding out what you have missed. If you miss a test or
assignment that was due, you are responsible for getting these completed.
 Due dates will be set for projects and must be followed. If you will not be done on
time, arrange with the instructor to come in during extra lab time to get your
project completed on time.
 The lab will be open most days by 8 AM and for 1 hour after school. Let your
teacher know when you would like to use the shop during these extra times.
 You will have to pass the Safety Quiz with at least 80% in order to work in the
lab. You will also be required to return the signed Shop Safety Contract before
working in the lab.
You cannot use any power equipment in the construction lab until you have received the
demonstration on it and have been checked out on it (instructor present while you
demonstrate safe use of it).

Reassessment Opportunities in Construction 20 can occur.

Students are encouraged to do their best to prepare themselves to appropriately respond to the assessment of course
outcomes following the schedule as detailed in each course outline. Providing students an opportunity for improvement,
departments may provide a chance for students to reassess an assessment or a part thereof.

Before a reassessment is granted to a student, corrective action will be required so that the student can gain a more
thorough understanding of the content and/or improve upon a skill/concept. This can be achieved by one or more of the
following: developing a learning plan, corrective instruction, relearning concepts, practice, change in learning strategy
(Including attendance), and participating in tutorials. Departments may add further criteria for the student to accomplish to
ensure curricular understanding prior to the student completing a reassessment.
