Q1. What are the Ruling Planets?

ANS. At any point in time when we start casting a horoscope or think

about a problem astrologically -

1. the star lord of Lagna running at that time

2. the Lord of Lagna running at that time

3. the star lord of Moon at that time

4. the sign lord of the sign Moon is placed in that time

5. the day lord of the day

are collectively called as ruling planets (RPs).

In addition to above RPs

If any Node (Rahu or Ketu) are found in conjunction with or aspected

by or in the sign of any 5 ruling planets, Node must be included in
the list of RPs too. In such cases, we say, that particular node is
AGENT of contributing RP. Other than current RPs, if they are found
in a birth chart, then they are called "birth time RPs".

Moreover, In the Hindu astrology system, we assume start of the day

from the sunrise, hence any time in the night before sun rise and
after 00 hrs - the day does not changes and thus the daylord does
not change at 00hrs, rather will change from sunrise. So, According
to english time 02-11-2018 2:12 am , the day lord will be Friday,
but according to Hindu astrology, this is time before sunrise of 2-
11-2018, hence, day lord would be Jupiter, the lord of Thursday.

Q2. Details required to calculate ruling planets ?

ANS.The date/time when astrologer decides to sit for attempting BTR

and the place of astrologer must be used.

Q3. What is the benefit using RPs in BTR ?

ANS. Ruling planets are essential part of KP astrology. They are

termed as divine help to the astrologer. It is assumed that at the
time of solving question, the planets ruling that time provide
important guidance to clear off the confusion. Yes, there are other
methods also available, but BTR using RP is the most simple, easy to
learn and accurate method.

Q4. Why should I trust RPs ?

ANS. RPs never fail. Astrologer may not get correct indication as a
destiny, may be due to some negative sookshma dasa or due to
unfavorable Moon's position on that day. It does not means that it
is failure of RPs. hence, it is the duty of astrologer when day is
not in favor of him, he should not attempt to touch a sensitive case
like BTR or must not do some sensitive prediction. Same I feel for
an Amawasya day. To get help from RPs, we must have faith in divine
power, in RPs, in our Gurus, in our Parents, in our Ishta Deva; and
we must calculate them by bowing head to Guru, Planets and Ishta
deva. They will surely provide help without any failure.

Q5. For how long RPs are valid ?

ANS. RPs are like OTP (One Time Password), hence they are valid for
one case and only for a limited period of time. Suppose, something
interrupts the astrologer (phone ring, TV, someone called,
astrologer went out for even a minute or hours) leaving the analysis
incomplete, a new set of RPs must be considered to finish the
unfinished work.

Q6. Easy method of finding strength of RPs.

ANS. The Ruling planets described above are in the decreasing order
of strength. In the KP Astrology, Nodes are important and stronger,
hence must be given preference over others.

Q7. What are the effective Ruling Planets ?

ANS. Tempting ruling planets must be removed. The RPs in the star of
retrograde planets are useless, so they must be removed, if a node

is agent of such RP, then that Node must also be removed. But
keeping such RPs or discarding them depends upon wisdom of an
astrologer. If your heart says that for BTR purpose, I should not
consider this retrogression rule, its okay, do not consider it,
otherwise you may discard such RPs. Usually, in the KP horary
astrology such kind of RPs are considered as useless, for BTR
purpose, I don't discard them but whenever other option is
available I prefer that over such RPs.

Q8. How to check a given birth time is correct or not ?

ANS.Cast the horoscope for the given details using KP ayanamsa and
Placidus house cusps and note down the Ruling planets at birth as
well as at the time of judgement.

Method-1:

All Current RPs must be agree with birth time RPs.

Method-2:

All current RPs must be present as sign/star/sub/sub-sub lord of

birth Ascendant.

If not so, then horoscope needs birth time correction.

Q.9 How can I rectify the birth time when exact time of birth
provided by the native ?

ANS. When native says that I was born at 12:35 PM, or at 04:45 AM
then it is sure that there can only be a little difference in the
birth time and you may predict with that chart upto data-bhukti-
antara levels provided Lagna is not in 0 or 29 degrees.

In such cases, it is advisable that we can check the presence of a

cuspal sublord of a Cusp related to matter for which native came for
consultation. For example, if it is profession/career, then cuspal
sublord of 10 must be present in the RPs provided it is related with
the profession of the native. If native comes to consult about
health issues, then cuspal sublord of the 6th cusp must be present
in the RPs provided it is describing the issues, if not, it must be
changed by manipulating birth time a bit.

in such cases, I would suggest that please do not go beyond limit -

10 minutes and +5minutes.

Example Case

DOB: 21-01-1984, 16:20 hrs IST, Place: Kept secret.

Ruling planets at the time of judgement :

1. Lagna star lord: Rahu

2. Lagna lord: Saturn

3. Moon star lord: Ketu

4. Moon sign lord : Sun

5. Day lord: Venus

According to the details ASC: Gemini 17:08:07 (Ardra-4)

Joint rulers (sign,star,sub,sub-sub lords) of ASC: Me-Ra-Ve-Me

Ascendant lord Mercury is not present in the RPs, but Ascendant is

17 degrees and native put the birth details with confidence. Gemini
Ascendant has star of Rahu which is present as the strongest RP.
hence it is confirmed that Birth in Gemini ascendant Rahu star. The
sublord of ascendant Venus is also present in the Ruling planets,
hence, birth time is correct upto sub level.

The sub-sub lord of ascendant Mercury is not present in the RPs.

hence Ascendant has error at sub-sub level, which is minute. In the
Vimshottari dasa order, we can have Saturn dasa before Mercury and
Ketu dasa after Mercury. Ketu and Saturn both the planets are
present among RPs, but Saturn is the stronger as Lagna lord. Hence,
sub-sub lord of the Ascendant must be Saturn instead of Mercury.

At 16:19 hrs the sub-sub lord of the Ascendant becomes Saturn. Hence
rectified birth time is 16:19hrs. Similarly, if we want to correct
upto seconds, we can consider sub-sub-sub lord as Ketu and sub-sub-
sub-sub lord as Sun.

This point of ascendant is at Gemini 16:45:31 (sign-star-sub-sub

sub-sub sub sub-sub sub sub sub) are (Me-Ra-Ve-Sa-Ke-Su).

Now all the joint rulers of the Ascendant are present among RPs.
Hence, accurate birth time is 16:18:15hrs, not 16:20.

With rectified birth time Dasa bhogya of Venus at birth is 14 years

2 months and with the original time , it is 14 years 1 month 20
days. A 10 days difference. If we could have predicted upto 3 levels
of dasa then prediction could have no chance to get failed. hence,
it is suggested in such cases when native provide his birth time
confidently, just predict using that and do not go upto Sookshma

dasa level in case of Natal charts. For pin point accuracy, Transit
method can be used after selecting the DBA of an event.

Since it is very accurate then we can consider the cuspal sub-sub

lord of ascendant to know about the body physique features of the
native. It is here, Saturn and deposited in the Libra. It confirms
that person will be having great physique, and will be taller than
average. Person would like to wear jewelry to compliment his
wardrobe.

Cuspal sublord of Ascendant is Venus, Person will tend to get

jewelry, comforts, vehicles, acting, music, drama etc. Venus is in
Sagittarius which holds a warrior symbol, hence body type should be
like warrior and will be taller in most cases.

Native is just like described above, hence, if sub sub lord of the
ascendant is confirmed to be correct then use it otherwise we can
describe the features using a correct cuspal sublord too.

Q10. How do I fix the exact time of birth when a duration is

provided (e.g. birth between 3pm to 5pm)?

ANS.In that case, find out all the ascendants falling during the
given time period and choose one with correct star wisely using
Ruling planets. Use then remaining ruling planets wisely as stated
in the previous case to fix other joint rulers of the ascendant.

Example Case:

Native born on 02-11-1969, 4:30 AM to 5:30 AM, Place: kept secret.

Ascendant at 4:30 AM : Virgo

Ascendant at 5:30 AM: Libra

From 4:30 onward Virgo has stars of Moon and Mars.

From 5:12:30 hrs Libra starts in Mars star which will remain same
upto 5:30 am.

Ruling planets at the moment:

Ve-Ma-Ke-Su-Ve

We can have Mars (present in RPs) star in both the ascendants, Virgo
and Libra.

Libra from 5:12:30 to 05:30 has 3 subs, Mer, Ket, Ven.

Since, both the signs have Mars star common and Mars is present
among the RPs and Moon is not present in the RPs, it is confirmed
that Birth is from 05:12:30 to 05:30 am. in the sub of Ketu and in
the sub-sub of Venus. i.e. on 05:21 AM. Signlord of Libra and
starlord Mars in Libra, present in the RPs, but signlord of Virgo,
Mercury is not present among the RPs - is another easy way to do the
things.

At 05:21 AM, the Ascendant is Libra 01-56-59 (Ve-Ma-Ke-Ve) , Ve-Ma-

Ke-Su-Ve would be more accurate, but it will be matter of only few
seconds at 05:21:40 AM. We can declare correct time of birth as
05:21 AM.

Let's recheck that Fixed Ascendant Libra is correct or not ?

Randomly generated KP seed (1-249) from computer software : 99

It is Leo 21:53:20 P.Pha star of Venus which rules Libra too. hence,
Birth Ascendant is confirmed again as Libra.

Q11. My ascendant is Taurus or Gemini ?

ANS. Ask the native to provide two horary seeds (1-249).

suppose native provided 39 for Taurus, and 43 for Gemini.

joint rulers (sign-star-sub) of the horary number 39: Ve-Ma-Ra

joint rulers (sign-star-sub) of the horary number 43: Me-Ma-Ke

Record Ruling Planets at the moment:

Lagna star lord: Ven

Lagna lord: Mar

Moon Star lord: Ket

Moon Sign lord: Sun

Day Lord: Ven

In the KP Astrology sublord is termed as a "Decider". Hence, it is

important. In this case, sublord of horary seed 43 Ketu is present
in the RPs, but the sublord of horary seed 39, the Rahu is not
present in the RPs. hence, it is confirmed that the ascendant of the
native must be Gemini, not Taurus. The reason is, Mars star can be
found in both Taurus and Gemini in the given number, but Ketu sub
will only be come in the Gemini (43).

Suppose, both of these planets Rahu and Ketu present in the RPs.
Then decide wisely by taking in account the strength of RPs.
Suppose, none of the node is present in the RPs ? You may then ask
for another set of horary numbers and decide it with the new RPs.
Or, you may consider the sub-sub lord of these numbers by referring
Table of Sub-Sub lords, any one of them should then give us a clue.

Venus present two times in RP and Mercury is not present in the RPs,
hence Ascendant must be Taurus is a wrong way to do the things.

Q12. My Ascendant is Capricorn or Aquarius ?

ANS. Sometimes, it happens that Birth in Sandhi of two Ascendants

where either the sign or star may be same, like in Capricorn
27:53:20 to 30:00:00 and Aquarius 00:00:00 to 01:53:20 degrees, we
have Sign lord and Star lord as Saturn and the Mars respectively.
But sublord for both of these Ascendants is different, which is
Saturn for the Capricorn and Mercury is for Aquarius. Thus, if
Saturn is present in the RPs, declare the Ascendant as Capricorn but
whenever Mercury is present in the RPs, declare the Aquarius. When
both of these planets Saturn and Mercury are present in the RPs,
decide using strength of RPs. This method grabbed from a well known
KP stalwart astrologer Dr. Sunil Gondhlekar ji. But I usually use my
own developed method described in answer of Q11.

All other Rasi Sandhi Ascendants may have same star lord and
sublords but sign lords will be different, presence of which may be
judged easily with the help of RPs.

Q13. What to do when a person is confused about his birth year/month

or date ?

ANS. There was a school leaving certificate of prime minister Modi

ji rolling all over the interenet some time ago, stating that he
born in 1949, not in 1950. Let's check, what is correct using RPs.

RPs are: Sa-Mo-Ve-Su-Ve

The slow moving planet Jupiter completes one rotation of zodiac in

about 13 months or approx 1 year. Hence, we can consider Jupiter to
fix the year.

The Jupiter was transiting on that date of 1949 in the star of Sun,
and during 1950 it was moving in Moon in the start of year. The Moon
and sun, both are present among RPs, but the Moon is stronger RP as
it is present as Lagna Lord, while Sun is there as Moon's sign lord.

Hence, it is confirmed that correct birth year of Shri Narendra Modi

should be 1950.

Similarly, the month of birth can be predicted. Sometimes, extra

inputs play vital role in fixing the month of birth, for example, it
was rainy season, it was a night of winter or like this. Astrologer
must ask native to provide such inputs. Additionally, Movement of
Jupiter in a particular star and sub can be used to fix the correct
month of birth along with the Sun, because, sometimes, Jupiter get
retrograde and in that case, we will have same sign/star/sub of
Jupiter in two month. Sun will help to clear the confusion.

In the same way, when we have fixed Sign and star of Sun, we get 13-
14 day period and now We should look for fixing the Moon's sign and
star lords to arrive at that particular day, and then we may fix the
Ascendant of the native.

Although, this is very tedious method and require various kind of

inputs and extra efforts and time, hence is not suggested for normal
cases. Horary astrology is able to reveal the answers of almost any
kind of question, can be used in place of doing BTR in such cases.

Q14. Are there exists some other methods of BTR which are based on
RPs ?

ANS. Of course, some exists.

One such method is based upon aligning the Natal Moon's longitude
correctly using RP Ascendant, and aligning the birth Ascendant using
RP Moon.

First we calculate the natal chart as per the birth time provided.
Then joint rulers (sign-star-sub-sub.sub) of natal Ascendant and
natal Moon must be calculated.

[i] Aligning the Birth Ascendant using RP Moon.

Note down the joint rulers of RP Moon. Then find out the connection
in birth chart between Natal Ascendant joint rulers and the RP
moon's joint rulers, on one-on-one basis.

e.g.

Birth Ascendant joint Rulers: Me-Su-Sa-Ma

RP Moon's joint Rulers: Ma-Sa-Ve-Me

Now, there must be connection exists between these joint rulers,

i.e. Me-Ma must be connected in the birth chart, if so, we say

Ascendant is correct on the sign level. Su-Sa connection also

exists, then we say - upto star level, the Ascendant is correct. Sa-
Ve connection must also be there for the natal ascendant to be
correct upto sub level and so on.

what do I mean by connection ?

It can be any kind of connection, Drishti/Yuti/Aspect/Conjunction,

star exchange between two planets, two planets in same star, two
planets are same, a planet and node representing that planet etc.
The word "connection" here is used in the broad sense.

Similarly, Birth Moon can be verified using RP Ascendant joint

rulers.
