Introduction to Gas Technology
1.1 METER APPLICATION 1.2 TECHNOLOGIES
When metering is used for billing purposes,
the essential value sought is the energy
consumed. To obtain this value the volume
of the reference conditions must first of
all be known. This information is then
processed manually using the average
volumetric calorific value to obtain the
corresponding energy.
A metering chain includes one or more
primary sensors corresponding to
auxiliary functions of processing and
correction. History and experience have
confirmed the superiority of direct volume
measuring systems (meters).
These meters measure the volume of a
given gas, which is then computed and
shown on an index (Totaliser). Volume Gas
25-100 bar Meters are divided in two categories:

TECHNICAL DESIGN
Totaliser
A direct or indirect driven register, depending on the
type of coupling between the measuring unit and the
index box, indicates the passed volume of gas.
Both index box-constructions are designed in such a Totaliser with Cyble target
way that it’s almost impossible to access the registers
without damaging them.
Measuring unit
The measuring unit consists of two chambers with
synthetic and gas-tight diaphragms, which is moved
by the differential between the inlet and outlet pressure.
A transmission gear and a magnetic coupling / stuffing
box transfer the reciprocating motion to the mechanical
index.
The unit is built in a robust steel coated casing, either
drawn or welded. Measuring unit
ACCURACY
In accordance with the EC and OIML standards.
In line with EC standards, the tolerance of acceptation is +/-3 % from Qmin to 0.2
Qmax and +/-1.5% from 0.2 Qmax to Qmax.
Every meter undergoes a 100% inspection for function, accuracy and safety.
All meters are EN1359 compliant and have DVGW approval.

agressive gases, etc
MZ meters are designed to measure natural gas, and
various filtered, and non-corrosive gases.
They are used to measure low to medium and high
flow, at low or medium, or high pressure.
They have been especially designed for industrial use
and for secondary measurement.
The possibility of fitting various options such as the oil
pump or the PTFE coating version, means that they
are also suitable for use in heavy duty measurement.

various filtered and non-corrosive gases as well as thermowell, etc
compressed air.
Due to the volumetric principle of the Delta QD, its
metrology is not influenced by installation conditions.
Consequently, it can be used to build very compact
stations without installing a straight pipe inlet before
the meter.
They have been especially designed
for industrial use and for secondary measurement and
are particularly adapted when the flow can be low or
irregular.
A Delta QD is made up of
four main parts:
➊ A measuring chamber
➋ 2 pistons, which are
synchronised by
2 gears and which rotate
in opposite directions
➌ 1 lubricant cover
➍ A totaliser to register the counted gas

HIGH RELIABILITY
With the unique, patented principle of Cyble technology, the meter index and the
remote index are always identical. The integrity and the reliability of this data is key for
use in billing applications:
ª The register is equipped with a non magnetic target. Hence, magnetic tampering is
impossible and the meter is insensitive to 2500 gauss magnets (non-magnetic metal
plated sector)
ª The Cyble target does not influence the metrology of the meter. The register is
insensitive to vibrations (to send an output signal, a complete revolution must be
completed).
TARGET DETECTION
Cyble MIU measures the dampening of the Electromagnetic field:
Coil Oscillations
Coil Coil
If there is no Target in front of the coils of the Cyble MIU, the generated oscillation is
self damped within a time T. When the Target is in front of a coil of the Cyble MIU, the
induction creates a surface current in the Target (called an eddy current) which has the
effect of opposing the induction and therefore dampens the oscillation faster, within
time T’ < T.
