Solution Definition Summary

In this section provide a description of the purpose for this Solution Paper. Include all related documents e.g.
Functional Design, Business Process Design etc. associated with this Solution Paper.

Purpose

The purpose of this solution paper is to answer all related business questions and issues
corresponding to the Functional Location business event and configuration considerations.

Function locations are Organizational units that structure the maintenance objects of a company
according to functional criteria.

Functional location codes in SAP are created using a Structure Indicator.

The structure indicator of a functional location determines the structure of the functional location label.
It establishes the following factor:

 Number of hierarchy levels of a technical system

 Key length of the levels

 Separators (hyphens)

Related Business Process Definition

Required Business Decisions

In this section provide a description of the business decisions that are required from this Solution Paper. Document
the detail required at a business event, configuration group and/or an IMG Configuration item. Describe why these
decisions are required and the role they play in the overall configuration. In addition any configuration guiding
principles that affect the Business decisions should be documented as Business Implications (i.e. what are the rules,
boundaries, limitations of ERP).
Where applicable a detailed analysis of the different options and the advantages and disadvantages of each of the
options will be provided along with the recommended solution. Alternatively, a discussion of the appropriate
solution may only be provided.
Assumptions

Equipment will be created and managed by authorized persons only.

Business Decisions / Design Considerations

Equipment code for BSPHCL would be:

ONM: (DSS Equipment Codification)

ONM-PATN-DSS-AMBEDKAR01
1000001
{Transformer as Equipment (Internal Number Range)}

ONM-PATN-11K-DANAP
110001 {11KV Feeder as Equipment (Internal Num Range)}

ONM-PATN-33K-PATNC
330001 {33KV Feeder as Equipment (Internal Num Range)}

ONM-PATN-PSS-PESU1
1000001
{Power Transformer as Equipment (Internal Num Range)}

2000001 {Switchgear as Equipment (Internal num Range)}

{Switchgear as Equipment (Internal num Range)}

All the codes are taken as per the GIS module to keep uniformity of names, codes & abbreviations

Master List of Equipments along with their installation location i.e. Functional Location will be provided
by GIS team with approval from BSPHCL team.
