(RW 06 Studies at Marga Mekar Housing, Margadadi Village, Indramayu

This study aims to determine the relationship of environmental knowledge

with people's behavior in managing household waste . The method used in this study
is a descriptive statistic with a simple correlation analysis technique . The population
in this study were all heads of households in RW 06 ( RT 02 , 03 and 04 ) totaling 115
households. The sampling technique used was simple random sample size of 53
people . By the age of 40-49 years and the majority of education past high school .
Knowledge as an independent variable ( X ) and behavior as the dependent
variable ( Y ) . Research instrument in this study is a questionnaire that consists of :
as many as 20 variables X and variable Y as a matter of 20 questions that form a
closed matter . Number of valid questions on variable X are 20 questions and the Y
variables are 20 questions . Reliability value in the variable X is 0.907 and 0.931 on
the variable Y , which means that the two variables are in the category of very reliable
.
This research used descriptive statistical analysis . Statistical analysis
technique used is a simple correlation technique Kendall 's Tau both directions with a
significance of 5% and for the coefficient of determination being used to find the
contribution of the variable X to variable Y.
Kendall 's Tau correlation analysis requires scores from each respondent .
Highest score of the variable X is equal to 80 and the lowest 55. While the variable Y
scored highest 79 and the lowest 27. From the analysis of the correlation value
obtained modest correlation between the two variables is 0.233 and 0.019 with a
significance of numbers that have been significantly qualified the 5 % two-way must
be below the value of two-way coefficient of 0.025 . This shows that there is a low
relationship between knowledge of the behavior , because it is in the range from
0.200 to 0.399 with the characteristics of proportional relationship and the higher the
environmental knowledge of the behavior of people in managing household waste ,
the better .
From the results of the calculation coefficient of determination of 5.43 %,
which shows that the knowledge about the variables X ( environmental knowledge )
can be explained 5.43 % variable Y ( people's behavior in managing household
waste ) . The rest of the calculation results of determination as 94.57 % means that
the variable Y is explained by variables other than X.

 From the research , there is a low relationship between people's knowledge
about the environment with the behavior of people in managing household waste .
This suggests that people's behavior in managing waste in RW 06 is only 5.43 %
influenced by knowledge of the environment .
