Books Manufacturing

1.
1. Components of the system

 Entity : Machines
 Attributes : Speed, Capacity, Production rate
 Activities : Printing, Binding, Stamping
 Events : Breakdown
 State variable : Status of the machines(on/off)
 Exogenous : Resources transportation

2. Characteristics of the system

 Environment : The environment is the system within which an

organization operates. The warehouses and the printing press are the
environment the affects the production of the books.

 Integration : The holism of the system is known as integration. The

integration of various components such as pages, covers etc.

 Central objective : A system should have a central objective. Objectives

may be real or stated. The object of the system is to manufacture books
as per demand.

 Interdependence : Interdependence is the part of the system are

dependent on the other parts. For example, the covering of book activity
is dependent on the manufacturing of pages.

3. Simulation steps

 Problem Definition : The initial step involves defining the goals of the
system that you need to achieve.
 Project Planning : The task for the model simulation is broken down
into modules known as work packages. Milestones are set to track the
project. Schedule is necessary to determine the time constriants.

 System Definition : It involves the identification of the components of

the system such as entity, activity, events, attributes etc.

 Model Formulation : Understanding how the actual system behaves and

determining the basic requirements of the model are necessary in
developing the right model.

 Verification & Validation : Determining whether the model behaves as

per plan.

3. Simulation Softwares

1. SolidWorks Simulation :
SOLIDWORKS® Simulation is an easy-to-use portfolio of
structural analysis tools that use the Finite Element Analysis
(FEA) method to predict a product’s real-world physical
behavior by virtually testing CAD models. The portfolio
provides linear, non-linear static and dynamic analysis
capabilities.

2. AnyLogic Simulation :
AnyLogic is a simulation software tool that provides a graphical
interface for modeling complex environments, such as
manufacturing and logistics, healthcare, mining, or road traffic,
to name a few. The AnyLogic’s mission is to provide an
environment where you can model these systems without
workarounds.
