DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN ENGLISH 5

I – OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson the pupils are expected to:
a. use the prepositions in, on and at in a sentence.
b. write sentences using the prepositions in, on and at.
c. do the activities honestly.

II – SUBJECT MATTER: Prepositions (in, on, and at)

III – PROCEDURE
a. Drill – let pupils describe the following pictures:
.

- Let them make a sentence about the picture.


b. Motivation – use a video presentation.
c. Presentation – asked pupils what are the words used in the video?
- introduce the prepositions in, on and at.
- give examples on how to use the prepositions in, on and at in a
sentence.
d. Exercises – show to the pupils the SIM entitled “Lets Learn Prepositions”.
- let them do the activity honestly and independently.
IV – GENERALIZATION
•Preposition is placed before a noun or a pronoun in the sentence to show relationship.
•The combination of preposition with noun or pronoun is called prepositional phrase.
•The prepositions at, in, and on are all used in time, place, and position or location.
•For time, at is specific, on is one day, while in is longer than one day.
•For place, at is used in specific place and address, on is for roads, avenues, etc.,
while in is for wider places such as towns, cities, countries and continents.
•For position, at means by, beside, or near, on means in contact with the surface, while
in means inside or within

V – EVALUATION
a. Use the prepositions in, on and at to complete the sentence.
1. I have to go ____ 12 o’clock.
2. Let’s go to church ___ Sunday.
3. I was born ___ July 27, 2018.
4. We first meet ____ 2012.
5. I saw her eating ___ the cafeteria.
b. Write 5 sentences using the prepositions in, on and at.
V – ASSIGNMENT – Cut out pictures from magazines showing the prepositions in, on and
at.
