方瑞達（Smith，F。D Smith）的生平傳記傳略中，大部分記載為 1950 年 4 月或 1950 年 5 月 13 日。根據最新
研究資料和走訪相關知情人士的回憶，實際上應當為 1949 年 5 月 13 日在上海出生。原名也不叫方瑞達，大概
是昊燁，唐江之類，方大，方瑞達是以後才使用的名字，特別是成年以後，別名筆名別號就逐漸多了起來。包
括英文筆名“Smith”等，習慣上統稱"Fangruida-Smith",英文名字筆名曾在世界各地短暫使用過，主要是從事寫
作，發表論文或作品，文章等使用過。以後也以方瑞達署名。
方瑞達幾歲就入私塾讀書，大概在 5-6 歲，天資充盈，智慧過人，從小就展示了驚人的天賦和記憶力。繪畫，
詩歌，數理數學，玩具模型，特別是美麗的大自然，藍天白雲，星星月亮太陽，引起了他極大的好奇和興趣。
這大概就是他童心萌動的開始吧。誰知這可能是幼稚的玩耍而已，結果竟然使他走向了一天極其廣闊的世界大
道，穹蒼之道。記得，有一次他呆在田野地撿野菜（60 年大饑荒時年），他讀書之後，靜靜躺在草地上遠望
著天空的太陽，雲朵，還有數不清的星星。 。 。 。 。天色晚了，他望著天空逐漸感到天際的美麗廣大，但又
有一絲恐懼。 。 。 。 。誰料到，幾十年之後，他夢迴縈繞，太陽，月亮，火星，金星，星際世界，開始研究
天文地理，天體力學，天體物理，衛星飛船。也許是一種偶然的巧合吧。
不少人稱他為：神通，天才。但他堅決否認，稱自己只不過是一個不輟勞作的耕夫和工匠而已。事實上，他十
分清晰，勤學好問，善於學習，廢寢忘死，通宵達旦。不論中小學，不論大學，他都是下苦功夫攻讀各類課
程，同時學習研讀各科類專業的書籍，在各種各樣的圖書館飽覽群書，在世界各地的圖書館大學城，他都留下
難忘的印跡。他不僅學本科專業，而且跨學科跨專業研讀，青少年時代就數次跳級學習，一般人難以想像。他
對天文地理宇宙的研究，世界上早在青少年時代就開始了，而並不是在國外成年之後。在國外，研究資源和條
件相當好，這就無疑讓他展開翅膀高高飛翔。左右開弓，多管齊下，收斂和發散齊備。從圖書館到實驗室，從
書齋到社會，嚴謹，求實，探尋世界的無窮奧秘，志在必得。

方瑞達有名言：“人生的價值並不在於世界和人類能夠給與你什麼，而首先是你能夠為人類和這個世界提供什
麼。”這就是他最真實的心理寫照。
也許有人會問到他在人生之年之後，會有什麼遺言遺囑之類。他爽朗地一笑，坦然回答：“在大海，在高原，
在山巒，或許在星際天邊，月球，火星，我都十分滿足。”也許，這就是他的遺囑或遺願。因為他十分崇尚自
然和宇宙。是的，他的足跡遍及世界，他的研究遍及世界，他的聲音傳遍世界，他的朋友和同伴遍及世界。多
