Secretarial Position
Perkins Coie is currently seeking a secretary to support the
labor & employment department. Job responsibilities include
telephone and e-mail communication with clients and attor-
neys, managing and coordinating calendar and travel sched-
ules and preparing pleadings for state and federal court
filings (including E-Filings). Should have familiarity with
common litigation documents including notices of appear-
ance; proof of claims, motions, notices, orders and schedul-
ing. Individual must work well in a team environment,
possess strong written and verbal communication skills, have
a strong work ethic and be highly organized with an attention
to detail. Will also be responsible for time entries; transcrip-
tion and client files Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. - 5:00
p.m. with occasional overtime. Must have a positive attitude
and excellent prioritization skills. Requires a two years expe-
rience as a litigation secretary. We offer a competitive salary
and excellent benefit package to our staff.

Yep, I’m back from
vacation. You know that
feeling. You wander into
the office all relaxed and
maybe even tanned. You
have pictures ready to
show your friends and the
bosses of your vacation
spot. Maybe you even
have a couple of travel
horror stories to relate or
comments about some-
thing funny that happened
on vacation. You walk in
the door smiling and
wham...it’s like you are hit
between the eyes. Where
is that file, did you talk to
this witness, have you done
this, have you done that,
oh by the way how was
your vacation, did you pre-
pare this..... You start
breathing shallowly (just
like you did before vaca-
tion) and wish you could
turn around and walk out
the door. No wait, that’s
wrong, you just want to run
out the door!
Well, maybe it’s not
thaaaaat bad. But for
paralegals our work keep-
ing accumulating even in
our absence from the
office. Deadlines do not
stop because we are gone.
Hearings do no go away

nesses.
How can a paralegal
avoid the foregoing sce-
nario? Some of us simply
