Personality traits
People who work in skilled trade professions spent
the least time on leisure (four hours and 34 minutes
per day), compared with people in sales and
customer services professions who spent the most
(five hours and 21 minutes per day). Many people
over the age of 30 can agree to that idea of feeling
more secure about themselves. A majority of
smartphone users (69%) say making calls or sending
texts are the activities they would most miss using their smartphone for. Compared to this
average, younger users aged 16-34 are less likely to say this. Women are more likely than
men to say they carry out five of these activities: post comments, share videos or photos
(81% vs. 75%), post comments in private group discussions (46% vs. 38%), check in at
locations visited (35% vs. 28%), make a complaint to an organisation (22% vs. 16%), or click
on newsfeed ads (14% vs. 9%).

Typical Hobbies
Men spend more time on hobbies then women (4 hrs 29
mins to two hrs 29 mins). The top Hobbies of people aged
25-40 are as follows; Reading, Sports, Gambling,
Computers, Gardening, Collection. One in five adults play
games on a mobile phone (19%) more than one in ten
doing so on a games console connected to a TV (15%), on
a tablet (12%) on a desktop computer/ laptop/ netbook
(11%). Less than one in ten adults (5%) say they play games on a handheld games console.

Social Activities / lifestyle


More men spend time on leisure activates than
women. The leisure time that both men and women
do is 14 hours 24 minutes for men and compared to
14 hours 23 minutes for women.66% of adults in the
UK use a computer. Adults are now less likely to go
online while they are on computers (62% vs. 71% in
2015) which is 9% down from 2015. In 2017, people
are more likely to use instant messaging services, up 4% from 2016.
Ways they consume media
The average person uses his or her phone for 3.1 hours
per day. Which means that it comes to 21.7 hours in a
week. 30-49 year olds are most likely to get their news
from social media 40% of those aged 30-49 use social
media as a news source. Compared to the average
(90%), use of a mobile phone is more likely among 16-
24s (98%), 25-34s (98%), 35-44s (97%) and 45-54s (95%)

Buying habits
The average 25- to 34-year-old spends roughly
$2,000 annually in online shopping. 54% of 25-34
years said that shopping apps made it easier for
them to shop online. Over half of those (60%) of
them prefer to complete the purchase with a
desktop or laptop. People aged 31-65 generally
have a higher disposable income compared to the other age groups. 40% of smartphone
owners use their phone as a ticket or boarding pass or to gain entry to an event.
