History

Delhi Tourism (DTDC), D.C (Handicrafts), NMDC, D.C. (Handlooms) and Ministry of Tourism and

The Craft Bazaar and DilliHaat is a joint project of the Delhi tourism and Transport
Development Corporation also shortly named as DTTDC. The project gets technical and
financial supports from the Ministry of Textiles, Government of Delhi.

The idea was initially put-forth by the DTTDC to set up the Bazaar that would include crafts
items, so that therural as well as urban artisans can use such infrastructure to boost their
products and things made from handicrafts. The bazaar will also provide an opportunity to
the artists to perform and display several arts and showcase Indian culture to the visiting
tourists. The complex is built on land of 6 acres and is located in one of the commercial areas
of South Delhi on the Sri Aurbindo marg.The idea of DilliHaatwas basically taken from the
village fair with slight difference to it.The difference is that the venue in village fair keeps
shifting while the stalls in Dillihaat are mobile with changes in the stall, as it offers
panoramic view to the diversity and richnessof Indian culture, crafts and artifacts.

The stalls at Dillihaat consist of 62 stalls that sell different handicraft things from different
regions.The stalls placed at DilliHaat are allotted to the craftsmen on rotational basis so that
each and every craftsmangets the opportunity to place their things for sell. The visitors can
even buy authentic things at the price that is not burden with the cost of maintenance. The
exhibition hall in the premise holds different shows to promote handloom and handicrafts,
matching the Governmentpolicy of preserving and promoting the traditional Indian heritage.

Attractions of DHJP
A big exposition hall spread over an area of 960 sq meters is set up at Janakpuri’s Dilli Haat
where several events, seminars, exhibition etc. are held. The exposition halls’ outer walls
will be having a covering of creepers that will give a greenish roof top.

This Dilli Haat newly built will be having an AC auditorium having a capacity of about 800
seats. The auditorium will also have equipment and latest technology and will also be
amongst the biggest auditorium of West Delhi.

Another special thing about this DHJP is an amphitheatre having the capacity of 820 seats

several cultural events.

for garbage dumping, water treatment plant, proper plan for sewage treatment, 5 public
toilets having energy efficient light fixtures and fittings and a big dormitory having 50 beds
are also constructed there to keep it eco-friendly and clean.

There are various eco-friendly features developed at Dilli Haat newly constructed.
Escalators, ramps and lifts are also installed for differently-abled people and senior citizen’s
convenience.

Keeping the security in mind of the people, CCTV cameras are installed at new Dilli Haat
with proper surveillance. Parking provisions are provided at surface and basement area.
Minimum 240 cars with 3 buses can get parked at surface area with 120 2-wheelers and 55
cards at the basement area.

is prepared with gram flour, ginger, whole wheat garlic, onion and mustard. One single

Maharashtra Stalls At Stall No 20

For quick snacks you must taste the dish at this stall as they offer dishes like PavBhaji at
the price of Rs.60/-, Masala Bhel which is made with 4 different masala and chutneys. You
can also try Bhelpuriat the cost of Rs. 40/-. Some other dish like Gurki roti and
sabudanaKhichri can also be tasted at this stall.

The recommendation for this stall isVadapav as it isprepared with mixture of masala with

The specialty of their dishes is the various chutneys that they use in their dishes. You must
try Akhuni Chutney that is mad of garlic and soy beans. Another Chutney that is famous is

This stall specializes in Kebabs and you can get various types of it like Shami, Galauti, Boti

available in Mutton at the cost of Rs.180, and Chicken at the cost of Rs.170, as well as in
Veg at the cost of Rs.135. This dish is made with Lucknow masala and the plate serves 2

Stall No: 5 is a Meghalaya stall

The best dish one can have is DohSyiarKhleh which is a chicken salad priced at 125/-. The
dish is prepared with boneless chicken pieces, green chilies, egg, salt, ginger, and pepper
and finally garnished with vegetables. If you love eating pork then the dish named
WakBijak madewith boiled pork in bamboo shoot, and anotherdishDohshianeySaliehis
made with fried pork and served with mint sauce and red chili. The cost of both the dish is
Rs. 125.

Momomia is Stall No: 6

Thisis a stall form Arunachal Pradesh and it specializes in momos. The plate of momos is

thupka at Rs.90.
