PAST FUTURE PERFECT CONTINUOUS TENSE

A. Definition

Past Future Perfect Continuous tense is the past tense of the most complex
in the composition of tenses. It is because of this tense in describing a position
that will be taking place and are still continuing in the past.1

Past Future Perfect Continuous tense used to express an action or event


that will occur in the past.2

It is quite difficult to understand unless given an example sentence. But


clearly so understanding and I will explain the formula and its functions in
more detail below. All the elements included in the present tense except this
tenses. Rarely, people using this tense, however, it is possible we will get this
sentence either in conversation or writing, and it would not hurt as well if we
know it.

B. The formula Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense.

There are four characteristics tenses elements needed to make this tense
formula.

1. The first is the past (Verb-2),


2. Future (shall/will + infinitive),
3. Perfect (have + Verb-3) and,
4. Continuous (to be + Verb-ing).

If the conclusion then, is the second form of the will would, infinitive form
of have is have, the third form (verb-3) than to be is that the formula has been
essentially becomes: S + should/would + have + been + verb-ing.

For the past formula future perfect continuous tense is more in the form of
positive, negative, interrogative and negative interrogative sentences. please
learn below:3

1. Positive (+)
Formula:
S + should / would + have + been + V1-ing / present participle.
Examples:
 I should have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of this
year.
 You would have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of
this year.
 They would have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of
this year.
 We should have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of
this year.
 He would have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of this
year.
 She would have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of this
year.
 It would have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of this
year.

2. Negative (-)
Formula:
S + should / would + not + have + been + V1-ing / present participle.
S + shouldn’t / wouldn’t + have + been + V1-ing / present participle.

3. Interrogative (?)
Formula:
Should / would + S + have + been + V1-ing / present participle
Examples:
 Should I have been longing for you theree monthes by the end of this
year?

C. Past Future Perfect Continuous Fuctions.

1. Tense serves to describe a work plan had started to do and still continues
in the past.
Example:
 She would have been waiting for me for 3 hours at 10 p.m yesterday,
but she had gone at 9 p.m.
 They would have been working for me for 10 years by the end of last
year, but unfortunately, they have passed away 2 years ago.
2. Same with one function of past future perfect, tense can be use to create a
conditional sentence type 3 although in practice it is rarely used.

D. Description
Tense requires indications of time past and time information also indicates
the duration that a work is in progress on a certain time until a certain time.
Time information using the duration is for (during) and yesteryear as last +
time, yesterday, at that time, and so forth.

E. Example Sentences Past Future Perfect Continuous Tense.

1. She said the she would have been trading Forex for a year last month.

2. If my parent permitted me I would have been traveling around the world
last year.
3. She told me that she would have been making line to buy ticket when the
last bus came yesterday.
4. I would have been working at that company for 3 years by the end of last
year if I didn’t get an accident.
5. If she had not taken my car, I would have been driving my car to Los
Angles for a day last week.
