What’s on the CD
There are 4 main folders on the CD-ROM, catalog, design files, resizable designs and tutorials.
These folders are full of important information.
Here is a list of what’s in each folder:
Catalog
There is a PDF file of an Anita Goodesign catalog. The catalog includes photos of many of our
collections, along with photographs of hundreds of projects. We hope all of the projects will
inspire you.
Design Files
Since there are so many designs and size variations in this collection, we organized the folders
differently than in any other Anita Goodesign CD. There are 5 different folders in the Design
Files folder.
“A” Blocks - This folder contains all of the 7.8” x 11.8” designs for
all the different types of blocks.
“B” Blocks - This folder contains all of the 6.8” x 10.2” designs for
“C” Blocks - This folder contains all of the 5.8” x 8.7” designs for
“D” Blocks - This folder contains all of the 4.8” x 7.2” designs for
Individual design folder- Includes all the individual designs
Open the folder with the size block you would like to create your project with. Each block folder
has all of the individual design formats inside for all of the different machine types.
Re-Sizing Our Designs
All of the designs in this Anita Goodesign collection can be re-sized using an
online software called pulse Ambassador. The software is on the website www.
pulsemicro.com. The software is not a download but instead works online
in a cloud based platform. You will need to visit the website and follow the
instructions on how to operate the resizing software. You will still use the .PXF
file that is included in all of our collections.
The .PXF file is located in the designs folder under “pulse re-sizable files”. If you
have an older version of ambassador installed on your computer already it will
still open and re size our older designs, however, the software is discontinued
and no longer supported. We suggest visiting the website and following the
tutorials for all future re-sizing efforts.
Tutorials
There are a few tutorials included on the CD-ROM. The first is a PDF copy of
this booklet, which will come in handy if you lose the booklet that came with
the design set. The second tutorial is a guide to choosing colors. This is a great
tutorial that demonstrates how we choose colors at Anita Goodesign. You can
apply our color theory to any design collection you may own. The third tutorial
is a home decor tutorial. This tutorial demonstrates simple techniques like
appliqué and embroidering on towels.
Christmas Classics
We love creating Christmas Designs at Anita Goodesign, as we enter our 10th year in business we have
created over 70 different Christmas Collections. Why I am mentioning this is that the Christmas Classics
Premium Edition is like nothing we have ever created. We used the lyrics from beloved Christmas carols and
turned them into Classic Christmas silhouettes like Santa Claus, Snowmen, Reindeer, Sleds and a host of
other themes. There are 25 different themed blocks in the collection that feature 25 different carols and
sayings. The blocks include all of the quilting stitches for added beauty. We didn’t stop there! In addition to the
quilt blocks we are including the designs without the backgrounds so you can stitch them on shirts, bags, or
any other item without editing. The Christmas carol blocks are only the first part of the collection. There are
also over 40 additional unique quilt blocks that are used to complete the larger quilt blocks. There are also
dozens of smaller designs included that you can embroider on all of your Christmas Gifts. The tutorial will
show you everything you need to know to create the quilt blocks and construct different projects. You will
cherish the projects you create from this collection for years to come.

Combination Squares
Each of the following large 16” x 16” blocks is created by joining large, medium and small
blocks together like a puzzle. After you stitch each of the designs used in the block
separately, follow the number system to sew them together as shown in the tutorial section.
Be sure to use the same size blocks in each square, all A-size, all B-size etc.
Start by stitching blocks 1 & 2 together first, then join block 3, set aside.
Then stitch 4 & 5 together, then join block 6.
Finally join blocks 1,2 & 3 to blocks 4, 5 & 6. This creates a large 16” x 16” square.

Block Sizes
Each of the block designs come in four sizes. Each of the 4 sizes look wonderful. Of course,
the larger sizes take longer to embroider. We created all of our samples using the “A” size.
Designs with the letter

Each individual shape has four different sizes:

A, B, C and D size. When you are creating
your quilt be sure to use the same size with
each of the components. All A-Sizes, All B-
sizes etc, this will make sure all of your
components fit perfectly when assembling the
quilt. The design pages will list each of the
individual designs and their prospective sizes.

**Note: you can not use the Large Rectangle
for a hoop that can embroider
at least 4.8” x 7.2” in the A size with the Medium Square in the C
size, these will not fit together easily, you have
to use either all A size or all C size.
Which Blocks go Together?
This collection has 92 different block designs, each of those designs are different. How do you put them
together you may ask? We made it easy for you! The 92 blocks are grouped into 25 main blocks, each of
the 25 blocks have 5-7 block designs. You simply embroider the designs and stitch them together to create
a large block. Then you can choose to sew any number of larger blocks together to create a quilt, wall
hanging or pillow. The following pages include a layout sheet for each block along with a guide on how to
sew them together.
Joining the Blocks

We wanted to make creating this project as easy as possible. There will be a tacking stitch visible around
the whole block once it is created. Once you are done embroidering the design, use your rotary cutter and
ruler to trim each block. Remember to add your seam allowance to the outside of the block. If you do this,
each block is exactly the same size. There is no need to measure and center the design! When you are
joining the blocks to create your project simply sew the blocks together by lining them up. The squaring
stitch will then be hidden in the quilt giving you perfectly joined and centered segments.

1 2 technique. You will notice on the design pages

that each part of the border is numbered. The
numbers correspond to the thread sequence
and dictate the order in which the fabric is
placed. You can see the numbers to the left
along with an example of the thread sequence
below.

The Main Project
We created a 48 block quilt as our main project. The finished quilt is 60” x 30” if you use the A-size blocks.
The following pages will show you everything you need to know to create this project. If you want to create a
larger quilt or a pillow you can do that as well. The techniques for all of the projects are the same.
Fabrics
We choose a variety of Fusion fabrics for the main fabric blocks. The great thing about this
collection is that it allows you to mix a variety of Christmas fabrics and colors toether. Most of
our Quilting collections have designs that go together and have to match. This has 92 different
designs that are independent of each other. This makes it much easier to choose colors
because you don't have to match the block next to it.

Quilt Sizes
The finished size of the Main Project is shown below in all block sizes.
A Block Size - 60” x 30” finished size

B Block Size - 52” x 26” finished size

Main Block Tutorial
To start, hoop a piece of No Show Mesh Stabilizer.
Stitch step 1 of the design, this is the squaring stitch.
Everything that stitches inside this block will be seen
in the block, everything outside the squaring stitch will
be sewn into the seam allowance.
Next, place your piece of batting over top of these

stiches. Use tape to hold the batting in place. Stitch
step 2 of the design. This is a tacking stitch for the
batting. It is slightly inside the squaring stitch so that it
catches the batting.
Trim any excess batting away from the tacking

stitches and out of the seam allowance.
Place your base fabric over the placement stitch

making sure you cover the line all the way around.
Your fabric will be right side facing up and should
extend at least 1/2” all the way around the stitches for
the seam allowance.

Step 4 is the tack down stitch for your base fabric; this
is a double stitch and will secure your fabric to the
stabilizer.
Stitch step 5. This is the stipple stitch, be sure to

match the thread to your fabric.
The first step with any applique is the placement

stitch. Stitch the next step in the design. This is your
placement stitch for the first applique fabric and will
show you where to lay your applique fabric.
Place your fabric over the placement stitch. Make

sure the piece is large enough to completely cover the
placement stitch. You can use painters tape to hold it
in position if you desire.
The second step with any applique is the tacking stitch

that will tack the fabric in place.

Carefully trim away the excess applique fabric as
close to the tacking stitches as possible.
**Note: Leave the seam allowance on the top and side

areas.
The next step is a series of satin stitches that will

finish off the raw edge and add design elements.
Each applique in this design is completed with these
same steps.
Finish stitching the rest of the design. Your finished

design will look something like this.
Use your rotary cutter and ruler to trim the block to a

1/2” seam allowance.

The folded fabric blocks start the same way as the
main blocks. Repeat the first two steps to tack your
batting in place.
Step three is the placement stitch for your first piece of

fabric. This first piece is an applique.
**Use thread colors to match your fabric, we used

contrasting colors for you to see in the tutorial.
Place your fabric over the placement stitch making

sure you cover the line all the way around. Your fabric
will be right side facing up and should extend at least
1/2” all the way around for the seam allowance.
The next step is the tacking stitch that will tack the
fabric in place.

top and bottom fabric, these are your seam
allowances.
Stitch the next step in the design. This is the

placement stitch for the first folded fabric piece.
Place your fabric decorative side down so that 1/4” of

the fabric overlaps the edge of the placement stitch.
Make sure that you have enough fabric to cover the
whole outline stitch plus the seam allowance.
Stitch the next step of the design. This is the folding

stitch for your first piece of folded fabric.

Once the folding stitch is complete, fold the fabric over
so that it forms a tight seam against the folding stitch.
Use tape to hold your fabric in place. Stitch the next
step of the design, this is the tacking stitch. This stitch
locks down the folded fabric.

fabrics pieces.
Folded Fabric Block Tutorial
Once the folded fabric pieces are complete the design
elements will stitch. Finish stitching your design.
Use your rotary cutter and ruler to trim the block to a

1/2” seam allowance.
Your finished trimmed block should look something

like this.
After the first block is finished, you need to embroider

the rest of the blocks for the composition block. In this
picture, we are arranging them in order.
Each of the combination squares has a layout guide

that shows the arrangement of the blocks. These are
shown at the beginning of the tutorial.
Stitching the Blocks Together Tutorial
Join the first two blocks by placing the blocks face to
face and pinning together. Sew slightly inside the
squaring stitch using a 1/2” seam allowance. Since
there are so many blocks in this project make sure
each joined block is straight.
Be sure to press the seams open after each block is

joined together. This will help keep everything square.
This is what the two blocks joined together look like.
Now we will join the third block to these already joined

blocks. Remember to always press your seams open
after each piece is sewn.
Continue to stitch the blocks together in order, joining
them to make the larger combination squares.
A completed combination square should look

something like this. The next step is to stitch all of the
individual blocks and then create the combination
squares for the quilt.
This is what the blocks look like once they are all laid
out. You can join as many or as few blocks together
as you would like.
The next step is to stitch the blocks together for each

of the rows. You will use the same technique you did
with the individual blocks.
Cut the batting and back fabric 1” larger than the quilt
top all the way around. You may have to piece two
pieces of fabric together to create the back since the
quilt is so large.
This is what the first row looks like all stitched

together. Continue to stitch the blocks and rows
together. Take your time doing this because the
pieces are very large.

Other Project Ideas
You don't need to create the giant quilt as your project. You can create a pillow using only one
of the 25 combination squares. You can also create a smaller 32”x32” quilt by using only 4 of
the combination squares. On the other hand, you can create a larger project by adding more
blocks. You can arrange the smaller blocks into your own configuration and create a project
large enough for a bedspread.
You can also use the individual design on towels, bags, home dec and clothing.
