FEATURED HONOREE
“For we know that all things work together for the good of
those who love God, for those who are called according to
His purpose.”
- Pastor Roy Baldwin
During Pastor Roy’s ministry, he has taken God at His word to “occupy until he returns”. The
Lord has used him to raise the dead, deliver many in bondage, and operate in the gifts of
prophecy, healing, miracles, mercy, and giving, among other awesome gifts. He and his wife
have traveled throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, Brazil, and Africa to minister the
Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Under his leadership, New Beginning has also, for the last six years, hosted and collaborated
with a number of interfaith ministries to host the “One Week One Street” outreach effort
which takes the love of Jesus Christ to the streets. Over 200 volunteers converge daily during
a week in June to bless the residents of the surrounding community with home repair/
improvement, tree removal and lawn services, vacant lot cleanup, a community garden and
a beautiful park. Pastor Roy’s foundational scripture is Romans 8:28 “For we know that all
things work together for the good of those who love God, for those who are called according
to His purpose.”
COLE WICKER-BEY
Colburn L. Wicker-Bey was convicted of 2nd degree homicide
on July 25, 1990. He was sentenced to 27 to 40 years in prison.
During that time, he faced many obstacles, but he faced none
greater than himself. He decided it was time to find himself. He
found his Devil and by Grace he was allowed to see God within
himself. He felt called to Serve Him and believed that meant
he needed to serve humanity. In order to be set free by the Truth, he had to recognize the
Lie that was holding him hostage—misconceptions of manhood. Knowledge of self, God and
humility were the keys that opened the true door to freedom in his life.
JAMES BELL
Brother JB was born Jaime Antoine Bell in Saginaw, MI. He is
the youngest of four siblings. He was in juvenile detention at
age 16 and in jail by age 18. He spent time in prison from age
18 to age 32. JB became a high school dropout, but received his
GED and some college credits towards an associate’s degree.
JB was baptized at age 15 and it has been 10 years since he has
been saved. He became a member of Daniel’s Den and serves under the leadership of Pastor
Taurus A. Simpson and Co-Pastor Darlene Simpson. He enjoys playing basketball and loves
being a father to his son, Jaime Antoine Bell Jr.

the age of 19, for bank robbery in Chicago. She was sentenced to 51 months in prison and 3 years of
supervision. She has a history of substance use, high school drop out, and becoming a teen mom. She
has beaten the odds by surrendering her life to Jesus Christ and pressing towards goals everyday, while
helping others live their dreams. She teaches substance abuse groups at Tri-Cap (residential facility
for probation/parole violators) and provides mental health services for outpatient clients. Sasha has
Come Out & Stayed Out of prison and she is an example of hope within this community and generation
of young people. These are some of her failures and successes and she will continue to strive towards
excellence while helping others in their journey.
