Welcome to the 2016 Annual Meeting of New Generations
Federal Credit Union! Thank you for not only your
continued trust in your local credit union over the past
year, but also for coming out tonight and being involved
with your credit union.

Can you imagine what things must have been like when
this credit union was founded in 1950? Computers had
yet to play a major role in day to day business operations
because the few that existed were prohibitively expensive
and consumed very large physical spaces. Therefore,
account and transaction records were kept by hand.
Cash was king – and ATMs were not yet an option for
accessing one’s cash. Lending needs (and capabilities!)
were arguably simpler. It probably goes without saying
that in 1950, banking relationships revolved around the
physical location – without which, institutions simply could
not exist. Technology simply did not play any kind of role
in the credit union experience in 1950.
 
Now, as the physical location takes a back seat to technology
services in today’s world, we’re often asked how New
Generations compares to larger credit unions or banks. Even
just ten years ago, we could point to our hands-on, local
service as a hallmark of the New Generations Federal Credit
Union experience. But we’ve always known that convenience
is just as important as service to many of our members. A
few years ago, we entered into a relationship with the CO-
OP Shared Branch and ATM networks that in turn saw our
physical presence grow nationally and internationally as credit
unions around the world banded together to better serve
their members’ needs. More recently, and like our peers,
we’ve become aware of just how important technology is to
the future of banking. We used this insight to take steps that
today have put us at the forefront of the hyper-competitive
banking environment. New Generations is able to give you
union from anywhere. You get to choose how you interact
with us. We invest in these innovations because we know
they increase your credit union’s value to you. We do this not
with the expectation that you will never come into a branch
again. In fact, we enjoy seeing each of our members. But
we know life gets busier and busier and convenience is ever
more valuable.
 
Another important reason why we have increased our
use of technology is to reduce the environmental impact
of our operations. This is why we not only try to help you
reduce your trips to a physical branch location, but we also
encourage the use of environmentally responsible services
like e-statements. We recently introduced an upgrade to our
e-statements platform that makes it easier than ever to view
your current and more recent account statements on any
device. This service adapts to the screen and device you are
using to ensure the experience is not only pleasant but also
productive. This is an environmentally friendly service, and
it’s more secure. If you have not done so already, why not
consider enrolling in e-statements today?
 
We will not (and arguably cannot) stop introducing new
technologies to better serve you. In fact, we’ve got some
exciting things coming right around the corner. Later this
year, your credit union will introduce a refreshed Internet
experience that will, for the first time ever, allow new
members to join the credit union online. We will also be
implementing drastic improvements to the online loan
application process and introducing an online mortgage
application. While we take pride in delivering outstanding

For example, we grew our loans to our members like you
by over 23% - or nearly $8.4 million to be exact. That’s $8.4
million directly injected into our local economy right here in
Central Virginia. And it’s all because of you. Thank you, and
we look forward to your continued support.
 
Now let’s talk about saving money. April is National Credit
Union Youth Month, and this year’s theme is Credit Union
Strong – a reflection of the fact that credit unions are the
number one source of financial strength in America. Every
year, credit unions nationwide band together to help
ensure that America’s youth are taught to save money
and set themselves up for financial success later in life.
We all know that good habits are formed most easily at a
young age. Specifically, our goal here at New Generations
is to help our young members discover the importance
of financial responsibility and become a real partner in
their financial futures. If your child, grandchild, or another
child you know could benefit from learning the important
principle of saving, please consider opening an account
for them at our credit union. It’s a simple act that can set a
young person you know on the path to success.
 
Speaking of success, two words that keep rising to the
top at your credit union when we discuss the successful
delivery of service to our members are delight and

Welcome to the 2016 Annual Meeting of New Generations
Federal Credit Union! Thank you for not only your
continued trust in your local credit union over the past
year, but also for coming out tonight and being involved
with your credit union.

every board member when I tell you that we are your

Can you imagine what things must have been like when
this credit union was founded in 1950? Computers had
yet to play a major role in day to day business operations
because the few that existed were prohibitively expensive
and consumed very large physical spaces. Therefore,
account and transaction records were kept by hand.
Cash was king – and ATMs were not yet an option for
accessing one’s cash. Lending needs (and capabilities!)
were arguably simpler. It probably goes without saying
that in 1950, banking relationships revolved around the
physical location – without which, institutions simply could
not exist. Technology simply did not play any kind of role
in the credit union experience in 1950.
 
Now, as the physical location takes a back seat to technology
services in today’s world, we’re often asked how New
Generations compares to larger credit unions or banks. Even
just ten years ago, we could point to our hands-on, local
service as a hallmark of the New Generations Federal Credit
Union experience. But we’ve always known that convenience
is just as important as service to many of our members. A
few years ago, we entered into a relationship with the CO-
OP Shared Branch and ATM networks that in turn saw our
physical presence grow nationally and internationally as credit
unions around the world banded together to better serve
their members’ needs. More recently, and like our peers,
we’ve become aware of just how important technology is to
the future of banking. We used this insight to take steps that
today have put us at the forefront of the hyper-competitive
banking environment. New Generations is able to give you
union from anywhere. You get to choose how you interact
with us. We invest in these innovations because we know
they increase your credit union’s value to you. We do this not
with the expectation that you will never come into a branch
again. In fact, we enjoy seeing each of our members. But
we know life gets busier and busier and convenience is ever
more valuable.
 
Another important reason why we have increased our
use of technology is to reduce the environmental impact
of our operations. This is why we not only try to help you
reduce your trips to a physical branch location, but we also
encourage the use of environmentally responsible services
like e-statements. We recently introduced an upgrade to our
e-statements platform that makes it easier than ever to view
your current and more recent account statements on any
device. This service adapts to the screen and device you are
using to ensure the experience is not only pleasant but also
productive. This is an environmentally friendly service, and
it’s more secure. If you have not done so already, why not
consider enrolling in e-statements today?
 
We will not (and arguably cannot) stop introducing new
technologies to better serve you. In fact, we’ve got some
exciting things coming right around the corner. Later this
year, your credit union will introduce a refreshed Internet
experience that will, for the first time ever, allow new
members to join the credit union online. We will also be
implementing drastic improvements to the online loan
application process and introducing an online mortgage
application. While we take pride in delivering outstanding

would not be a stretch to say we had an outstanding year.
For example, we grew our loans to our members like you
by over 23% - or nearly $8.4 million to be exact. That’s $8.4
million directly injected into our local economy right here in
Central Virginia. And it’s all because of you. Thank you, and
we look forward to your continued support.
 
Now let’s talk about saving money. April is National Credit
Union Youth Month, and this year’s theme is Credit Union
Strong – a reflection of the fact that credit unions are the
number one source of financial strength in America. Every
year, credit unions nationwide band together to help
ensure that America’s youth are taught to save money
and set themselves up for financial success later in life.
We all know that good habits are formed most easily at a
young age. Specifically, our goal here at New Generations
is to help our young members discover the importance
of financial responsibility and become a real partner in
their financial futures. If your child, grandchild, or another
child you know could benefit from learning the important
principle of saving, please consider opening an account
for them at our credit union. It’s a simple act that can set a
young person you know on the path to success.
 
Speaking of success, two words that keep rising to the
top at your credit union when we discuss the successful
delivery of service to our members are delight and

Do we delight and empower you? If not, why not? This
credit union grows when our members are engaged,
and hearing your personal stories of satisfaction or your
