Get your feet stomping and your body “Rockin´” with this innovative
workshop that brings rhythmical sounds and beats into magical
moments of motion and fun!

Drums Alive® Stomp & Drum is a symposium of the body and mind because it utilizes the
body, rhythmical instruments and other creative pieces of everyday materials to provide a
fun exploratory environment for learning, movement, and self-expression!

Hand clapping games and materials such as; drumsticks, pool noodles, garbage cans, and
other creative equipment will bring excitement to students and teachers alike. If you are
up for a new adventure and want to feel like a musician, you will love this physical,
emotional and powerful celebration of rhythms and movement.

Objectives:
Learn how to apply rhythmical applications through the use of the body as well as
with various rhythmical instruments or ordinary everyday objects.
Learn simple rhythms and choreographies for these pieces of equipment.
Stomp & Drum will provide a platform to improve knowledge and understanding
on multiple levels - mentally, physically and socially for rhythms and movements
from around the globe as well as provide the freedom for creative self-expression.

Equipment: Jumbo Speed Stacker or a small bucket
Music: Iko, Iko
Formation: Parallel Lines / Partners facing
TIP: Practice without a drum.
Partners walk to the middle and introduce themselves to one another.
Practice crossing R shoulders with partners.
Once partners have passed R shoulders they continue moving forward apart from one another
until everyone has reached the other side.
Turn to face partner again to repeat moving back to home base.

Drumming is fun for children. Endorphins are released and
negative moods are driven away. When kids are drumming they
are fully concentrated. All their attention is focused on the
drumming and the rhythm. Negative or irritating emotions are
reduced. Drumming increases alpha-brainwave amplitude, this is
associated with a sense of well-being and euphoria. When kids
beat, the vibration from the drums and their energy creates an
experience of a sense of vitality, togetherness and complete
harmony.

no longer able to communicate. They are able express themselves
with the help of rhythm, movement and music. Drumming
communicates on a level whenever so often words are missing.
