Post Concert Evaluation

Answer the following questions. Write in essay form (4-5 sentences) This is worth 20% of your
final grade. You will turn in your essay questions and listening evaluation on Monday, October
23rd.
Bad example: We played pretty good. I liked Thriller the best. It was a cool song. We played
together. Tuning was ok, but could use some help.
Better example: I felt this was a good performance. We played with good phrasing and
dynamics, especially in Thriller from measures 28-45. As I listened to the recording, the low
strings really helped to support the high string melodies, which made for a balanced
performance.

1. What were the strongest elements of our performance? Explain why. Be specific.
2. What elements need improvement? Explain why. Be specific.
3. What was my role in the process from rehearsal to performance? What did I do to
contribute to the entire process from sight-reading to performance and what could I have
done better if I had one more performance opportunity to play?
4. What did I enjoy most about this concert? What contributed to that?
5. Share comments from parents, friends, or teachers about the performance. (ask them!)
