PREFACE

In the following report, I have presented the work done during my summer internship at
National Commission for Protection of Child Rights, New Delhi, under the supervision of the
Mr. Paresh shah

In this report, I have presented a brief overview of the tasks completed during the period of
internship with commission. I would also like to thank members, chairperson of NCPCR for
providing me the opportunity to attend this internship program and adhere this responsibility
with working environment.

I am also very thankful to Ma’am upon his continuous guidance throughout the
internship training and provide me the opportunity to learn and understand the project related
complaints regarding Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. I am
also very thankful to other staff for their cooperation during my internship.

I sincerely hope and believe that this internship will become mutually beneficial for me. It will
become an exceptional part of my professional curriculum and will work as a catalyst for my
future career advancement.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The internship opportunity I had with National Commission for Protection of Child Rights was
a great chance for learning and professional development. Therefore, I consider myself as a

very lucky individual as I was provided with an opportunity to be a part of it. I am also grateful
for having a chance to meet so many wonderful people who led me though this internship
period.

Bearing in mind previous I am using this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude and
special thanks to the Chairperson of NCPCR, Nidhi ma’am, Harsha Ma’am who in spite of
being extraordinarily busy with her duties, took time out to hear, guide and keep me on the
correct path and allowing me to carry out my internship at their esteemed organization

I express my deepest thanks to Nidhi ma’am, [legal consultant] for taking part in useful decision

& giving necessary advices and guidance. I choose this moment to acknowledge her
contribution gratefully.

I perceive as this opportunity as a big milestone in my career development. I will strive to use
gained skills and knowledge in the best possible way, and I will continue to work on their
improvement, in order to attain desired career objectives. Hope to continue cooperation with
all of you in the future.

 Today I joined the office situated on the 5th floor of Chanderlok Building, Janpath.
 Was introduced to Harsha ma’am and Nidhi Ma’am, Legal consultant at NCPCR.
 We were introduced to the working of NCPCR and were asked about any idea regarding
function of NCPCR.

 All the interns present there were provided with the bare acts (THE COMMISSIONS
FOR PROTECTION OF CHILD RIGHTS ACT, 2005 and THE PROTECTION OF
CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL OFFENCES ACT (POCSO ACT) 2012).
 Read THE COMMISSIONS FOR PROTECTION OF CHILD RIGHTS ACT, 2005
and got to know how National Commission for Protection of Child Rights was
established, functions, compo

 I read about THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN FROM SEXUAL OFFENCES
ACT (POCSO ACT) 2012.
 Enriched me about various offences included under it ranging from penetrative sexual
assault to Aggravated penetrative sexual assault, sexual assault to aggravated sexual
assault, sexual harassment etc.

 Learned about punishment provided for these offences under POCSO Act.
 Got to know allotment of special courts to hear these offences and how court protects
the interest of child (for e.g.- keeping the identity secret, recording statement in

absence of accused etc.)


 Interns present were given a brief of working of NCPCR, the different cell functioning
under it (for e.g.- Legal Cell, Right to Education cell, Complaint Cell etc.)
 Started reading Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act,2009.
 8th MAY, 2018
 I along with other interns was taken to Right to Education Cell of National Commission
for protection of Child Rights.
 There we were greeted by some members of RTE who informed us about the following
projects on which we were to work.
 There were four projects with different group size and all interns opted the topics
according to their choice.

 I along with three other interns was allotted project on complaints of “Right of Children
to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009”
 We divided the complaints files per person in our group.
 I started reading the files and find the success story which made by NCPCR.
 Our Project head Paresh shah sir acquainted us with topics which we need to cover and
guided us how to proceed with the project.

 9th MAY, 10th May, 11th May, 14th may, 15h May

 Started reading the complaint files (approx. 150 files) of North eastern states like

Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, etc.

 In these complaints we get to know about the issue, provision which was violated in

these issues.

 Collected all the success story from these files and put it in the project as guided by

my supervisor.

 16th May, 17th May, 18th May, 21st May

 Started reading files (approx. 120) of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jammu and

Kashmir.

 While analysing the complaints, there were many fake complaints from Bihar.

 And in some complaints, there was a compromise made between the parties.
 22nd May, 23rd May, 24th May

 Started reading files (approx. 100) of Orissa, Rajasthan, Tamil Nadu.

 25th May, 28th May, 29th may, 30th may

 Started reading files (approx. 150) files of Pondicherry, Sikkim, Delhi.

 Most of the complaints of Delhi are transferred to Delhi commission for protection of

child rights.

 In these files we get to know about how NCPCR Deals with the complaints and try to

protect the rights of the children.

 31st May

 Today I made our final report compiling all day’s work and gave the soft copy to Paresh
shah sir.
 I compiled my daily work report and also presented it along my assignment report.
 I extracted approximately 100 success stories out of the total of 1200 files.
 I meddled all the success stories into a report.
