The Ugly Duckling

Bebek Buruk Rupa

It was spring and mother duck was sitting on her eggs.

Musim semi tiba dan Ibu Bebek sedang mengerami telur-telurnya.

One day her eggs started to break open.

Suatu hari telur-telurnya mulai menetas.

Soon, six small, beautiful, yellow ducklings and one big, gray duckling came out of the eggs.

The gray duckling had big eyes, and was ugly, but mother duck loved him.

Anak bebek abu-abu memiliki mata besar dan tampak buruk rupa, tapi Ibu Bebek
menyayanginya.

Sometimes the ugly duckling felt sad, because he did not look like any of his brothers and
they didn’t want to play with him.

Terkadang Si Bebek Buruk Rupa merasa sedih karena ia tak sama seperti saudara-
saudaranya, dan mereka tak mau bermain dengannya.

Every day, he went to the pond and asked the birds,

“Do you know any ducklings with gray feathers?”

“Apakah kalian tahu bebek lainnya yang memiliki bulu abu-abu?”

But they all said no.

Namun, mereka semua menjawab tidak tahu.

He didn’t ask the swans because he was shy.  They had long necks and white feathers.  They
were very beautiful.

bulu putih. Mereka sangat cantik.

He looked at himself in the pond, and felt even sadder.

It was winter, so mother duck took her ducklings to the warm barn.

The ugly duckling couldn’t wait to go to the pond again. He wanted to see the beautiful
swans.

Si Bebek Buruk Rupa tak sabar ingin ke kolam lagi. Ia ingin melihat para angsa yang cantik.
Soon it was spring again, and the ugly duckling ran to the pond.

Tak lama kemudian, musim semi dating kembali, dan Si Bebek Buruk Rupa lari ke kolam.

The ugly duckling looked at himself and was surprised,

“Is that me?” he asked.

“Apakah itu aku?” Ia bertanya.

You see, he wasn’t a gray duckling – he was a beautiful swan!

Kau lihat, ia bukanlah bebek buruk rupa lagi – ia menjadi angsa yang cantik!

All the other swans wanted to be his friend.

Semua angsa lainnya mau berteman dengannya.

“We’re swans like you!” they said. “We are happy to meet you.”

“Kami semua angsa sepertimu!” kata mereka. “Kami senang berkenalan denganmu.”

The young swan smiled – he rustled his feathers, curved his slender neck, and cried joyfully,
“I never dreamed of this, I am so happy!”

Aku sangat
bahagia!”
The Lion and the Mouse

Once upon a time,

a lion was sleeping under a tree.
A little mouse jumped on him.
The lion woke up, picked up the mouse,
and opened his mouth to eat him.
“I’m sorry to wake you up.
Please don’t eat me.
I can help you one day.” said the mouse.
“That’s funny! Okay, I’ll let you go.” said the lion.
Later, a hunter’s net fell on the lion.
The lion couldn’t get out.
The mouse saw the lion and ran to help.
The mouse helped the lion get out!
“You are a little mouse, but you are a big help.
Thank you!” said the lion.

Singa dan Tikus

Pada zaman dahulu,

seekor singa sedang tidur di bawah pohon.
Seekor tikus kecil melompat ke atasnya.
Singa terbangun, menangkap tikus
Dan membuka mulut untuk memakannya.
“Maaf telah membangunkanmu
Tolong jangan makan saya
Saya bisa membantumu suatu hari.” Kata tikus.
“Lucu sekali! Baiklah, saya akan membiarkanmu pergi.” Kata singa.
Kemudian, singa terperangkap dalam perangkap seorang pemburu.
Singa tidak dapat melepaskan diri.
Tikus melihat singa dan berlari untuk membantu.
Tikus membantu singa melepaskan diri!
Kamu hanyalah seekor tikus kecil, tetapi kamu telah membantu saya.
Terima kasih!” kata singa.
