Shri Naveen Agarwal Ji was a great visionary with tremendous personal charisma. Simple and humble,
Shri Naveen Agarwal Ji possessed profound wisdom & nobility that always stood the test of time. Modest,

Naveen Agarwal Ji was a living testimony of what an ordinary citizen, fueled by the enterprise and driven by

We are fortunate to have had a man of the stature of Shri Naveen Agarwal Ji in our midst. His sterling
leadership qualities, remarkable foresight, uncompromising pursuit of excellence, humility, prodigious capacity
to motivate and trust people will continue to guide and inspire future generations at Unison. Chapter 3 (Karma

DIT University takes its root from the erstwhile Dehradun Institute of Technology established in 1998. In
a very short span of 18 years, by virtue of its excellence in education and research, it not only attained
full University status but was also one of the very few universities in the country to offer in addition
to the regular undergraduate programs, full time graduate and doctoral programs in several disciplines
like Engineering, Pharmacy, Management and Architecture. In a short span of two years since 2013, DIT
University has thus grown tremendously to become one of the region’s premier institute of higher learning

6000 students studying here in all the disciplines put together is a reflection of the quality of education
that our University is committed to.

As we look to the future, knowledge will continue to play a very important role as a key resource for the
country. Our challenge is to generate new innovative ideas that will benefit society, to educate and train
people to work in interdisciplinary areas where you will be valued both for your specialized knowledge,
and for your ability to apply your knowledge to solve new problems in the modern world.
To keep pace with technological advancements and to meet these challenges our future endeavor would
require seeking strong alliances and international collaborative partnerships that would give you an
opportunity to be associated with high end research projects in your undergraduate, postgraduate or PhD
work. This will ensure the quality and relevance of our on-going academic programs and the continued

Course Structure
The Courses have been designed after deliberations held during an education conclave in
which eminent Educationists and industrialists participated. The present structure is in tune
with the latest industry requirement. Right from the first year onwards many choices are
offered to the students as electives which add flexibility and strength to the curriculum.
It follows the globally accepted credit and grading system. Performance of the students is
evaluated on continuous basis. Theory courses are augmented by adequate project works
helping students apply knowledge acquired in the classroom.

Collaborative Programs
Some of our programs are conducted in association with industries such as IBM, SAP etc.
These programs are as under:

Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Big Data and Analytics in
association with IBM
Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Could Computing & Virtualization
in association with IBM
Computer Science and Engineering with specialization in Cyber Security & Forensics in
association with IBM

professionals. It also enhances rhe employability of our students. The un-paralleled advantage is that
experts of the industries are engaged in teaching the students and selected students will be able to
work on live projects which enhances their problem solving skill.

Industrial Tour
With a view to bridge the gap between
theoretical input and practical knowledge,
an industrial tour covering relevant
industries is organized in the second
year of select programs. This enhances
students’ exposure and provides hands-on
experience in dealing with live problems
in the area of their expertise. Once
back from the industrial tour, students
participate in jointly organized seminars
and presentations covering details of
what was learnt during the tour.

Technical Training & Certification

Value Addition Technical Training is imparted to all students. They are also inspired to acquire at least
one International Certification. The University facilitates students by providing its infrastructure for
online/offline test for the same.

28
Option of One Semester Industrial Training
In programs viz BTech, BArch, MBA & MCA, there is a provision of Industrial Training (Internship) of
one semester in the final year. Under this provision, students take up on-site industrial training as
part of their course curriculum. However, they are required to be in touch with the concerned faculty
members for various semester courses for online guidance and submissions. Besides they have to report
to their respective department for all their academic requirements including those for appearing in
regular midterm & end-term examinations.

Remedial Classes
Diagnostic tests are conducted to identify weak students
Based on performance of students in class tests, quiz test and mid-term tests, their weak areas are
identified and extra classes are conducted subject-wise to bring them at par

Mentoring of Students
Orientation Sessions are conducted at the beginning of academic session by senior faculty
members.
Five fresher students are allotted to one senior student of the 4th year for necessary guidance

Centre for Entrepreneurship Development
Entrepreneurship in recent times has become a serious area of study. It is considered to be a
Development
solution for creating wealth, generating employment and providing new goods and services.
Developing the spirit of entrepreneurship among the youth has become vital because of the
government cannot provide jobs for all kinds of unemployed person, the corporate sector will
provide limited jobs only to the best and that too without any job security and lastly, very
often it is difficult to find an ideal job. It is seen that, those countries has risen, who have
focused on entrepreneurship and encouraged small scale industries.

New Program
MSc in Physics with Specialization in Electronics
After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Sciences an advanced Master’s degree in Physics will
provide an opportunity for students to specialize in one of the many interdisciplinary fields of
research. One of the areas is electronics where the Department is offering an MSc in Physics
with specialization in electronics. It is expected to provide job opportunities for the students
in Research and Developmental Organizations as well as in MNCs, teaching, industry etc.

100
Apart from studying the core courses, this program will provide an opportunity to study computer
courses, value added training and one semester dissertation work so as to prepare the student from
campus to corporate world. This program has been designed to give a hands-on experience to the
students that will help them in acquiring skills needed either for taking up a job or pursue research
there after.

Distinctive Features
The Department has organized two National Level workshops
The Department jointly organized with National Academy of Sciences, Allahabad a summer school
for 10+2 students
Establishment of a state-of-the-art Materials Research Laboratory for R&D activities
Establishment of advanced tools for the materials research for UG, PG and PhD scholars

analytical & practical knowledge to formulate and solve challenging problems and are well
prepared to take up jobs in software industries and research development organizations. The
successful completion of this program will enable the students in developing Mathematical
and Computational skills to model, formulate and solve industrial/research problems.

The Department also offers regular Undergraduate courses in Math I, II and III and a course
on Probability theory for MTech students.

Programs Offered
POSTGRADUATE
MSc- Mathematics & Computing

DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY
PhD in Mathematics

103
This unique program emphasizes on the courses which have vast potential for applications in the
area of computer sciences

It offers an exciting opportunity to those interested in Mathematics and wish to understand how
Mathematics can be put to practical use. It discusses modeling and solving of real world problems
in the context of computer applications

Scientific computing is an indispensable part of almost all scientific investigations and

technological developments at universities, government laboratories, and within the private sector.
Typically a scientific computing team consists of several people trained in the branch of
Mathematics, Science, Statistics, or Engineering. What is often lacking is the expertise in
modern computing tools such as visualization, modern programming paradigms, and high
performance computing. The Master’s program in Mathematics & Computing aims to satisfy these
needs, without omitting basic training in numerical analysis and computer science. Many
graduates of this program work at tech technologically advanced institutions, especially in research
and development. After successful completion of this program students may pursue doctoral
studies in Computer Science or Mathematics

Computing efficiently is the need of the hour. A Masters program with application in the field of
Research and Development is in great demand. This program enhances the research activity of the
Department and helps in getting keen aspirants for the existing PhD program
