Nehru family- Truth you should

know about Nehru family

Nehru family started with the Mughal man named Ghiyasuddin Ghazi. He
was from City Kotwal i.e. police officer of Delhi prior to the uprising of the
year 1857, under the Mughal rule. After capturing Delhi in the year 1857,
the year of the mutiny, the British were slaughtering all Mughals
everywhere. Britishers made a thorough search and killed every Mughal so
that there was no future claimant to the throne of Delhi. Thus, he adopted
‘Nehru’ as his family name. The Nehru family is a very important and
well-known name in Indian political history. Its political involvement has
been seen around the Indian National Congress and many individuals of
the family have administered over the Congress political party since the
independence of India. The Nehru family is also often referred to as the
Nehru-Gandhi family since the Gandhi family name was derived from
Feroze Gandhi whom Indira Priyadarshini Nehru got married to and then
decided to change her name. Right from the very beginning, the Nehru
family has been popular but still many get confused about its hierarchy or
