Teacher Candidate: Quinton Hunt

Grade Level: 6th
Date:

Unit/Subject: Math
Instructional Plan Title Number theory- thinking logically about multiplicative arithmetic
I. PLANNING
Lesson Students will learn to think logically using multiplicative arithmetic. Students will use even
summary and numbers and odd number properties using the divisibility rule to find factors of multiples.
focus:
Classroom and Each student has a IEP which gives 15 minute breaks each 30-60 minutes. Students are also
student factors: broken down into groups of two helping the planning and instructions to go more smoothly but
will be assessed as whole group.

National / State 6.NS.B.4- Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the
Learning least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive
Standards: property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1-100 with a common factor as a multiple of a
sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2)..0.
Specific learning target(s) / objectives:
The objective is for students to generalize rules for adding and multiplying even and odd numbers using
integers.

Academic Key vocabulary:

Language:  Integers
 Sum
 Representation
 Equivalent
 Factors

Instructional  Worksheets
Materials,  Pencils
Equipment and  Markers
Technology:  Personal whiteboards
 Interactive whiteboards
 Poster boards

Grouping: Students are grouped into groups of two whereas 2 girls are in one group and 2 boys in the other.

II. INSTRUCTION
A. Opening
Prior  Students have worked on and developed facility with multiplication and division
knowledge  Students have previously worked on multiplication/ division algorithms.

set:  Students will gather their materials and supplies
 Students will use integers with least common denominators in everyday situations
 Students will be able to identify whether a sum or product is even or odd using division

III. ASSESSMENT
Summative Students will create a poster board of the instructional lesson Formative assessments:
Assessment: given as part of the end of lesson portfolio. Students will complete Teacher will ask students
a end of lesson test. strategic questions to discern the
student’s level of comprehension
and understanding. Students will
also complete a exit ticket to
check for student knowledge of
lesson.
Closure: Students will reflect back on the poster board created to speak and conversate to the essential facts of
the lesson today. Students will compare notes and discuss as the entire class.

Homework: Students will create a mini poster board of integers determining odd and even numbers of total.
Students will then complete the homework task in notebook.
