6.0 Marketing Plan

6.1 Definition Marketing

Marketing is basically an exchange activities that take place between a business entity and its
customers.Marketing forms the backbone to total business effort in achieving a profitable
outcome.Challenge in any business is to produce a product that result in profit and more
importantly satisfies targeted customers. Marketing also can be defined the activities that are
carried out systematically to encourage and increase sales of products or services. Highlighted
elements in marketing are :
1. Systematic efforts – resources, money and manpower
2. Encourage sales – sustain and increase sales
3. Religious and ethical considerations – labelled and ingredients

6.1.1 Marketing Concept

All marketing activities must satisfy customer needs and wants and at the same time achieved
targeted profits. A satisfied customer will repeat purchase and this will give profits to a business.

6.1.2 Market definition

Physical place where buyers and sellers exchange goods & services.
Any entity that has the power the purchasing power to acquire goods and services to fulfill its
needs and wants.

14
6.2 Marketing Plan

To grow our business, we need a marketing plan. The right marketing plan identifies
everything from who our target customers are to,how will reach them, and how will retain
customers so they repeatedly buy from us.Done properly, marketing plan will be the roadmap
that we have to follow to get unlimited customers and dramatically improve the success of
organization.

6.2.1 Description of Products

a) Fabrication Construction

We used a hard luggage material this is because all hard luggages are durable and therefore
offer the best protection of the items inside. The most popular hard material that we used is
polycarbonate and aluminium. Aluminium suitcases are classic choice. Even, they are expensive
but we still want to used that material to care customer values. Polycarbonate is molded type of
thermoplastic polymers and is very popular material for hard luggage. It is lighter than
aluminium but still very durable and offers more style choices. in colours and patterns.Another
important benefit of polycarbonate as luggage material is how impact resistant it is. Upon impact,
the material flexes to absorb the impact and then flexes back to its original shape, making
polycarbonate luggage extremely resilient to rough handling.

b) Uniqueness of product

Our Sicuro uniqueness is the luggage only tag along with the owner so can prevent stealing
with the help of GPS and bluetooth with smart phone. The luggage also can be packed full and
also carry a bag on top of it so the owner no need to carry by hand. Thus, can move through
crowds and over rough trains. Our products also can adjusts the luggage speed to be a few steps
behind. However,. if customer need to rushing they can increase the top speed to 6.75 mph.The
price start at RM 747.50

15
6.2.2 Target Market

The most successful small businesses understand that only a limited number of people will buy
our product. The task then becomes determining, as closely as possible, exactly who those people
are, and ‘targeting’ the business’s marketing efforts and money toward them. We can build a
better, stronger business by identifying and serving a particular customer group in our target
market.

In our business, as a luggage company, we made some specific decisions early in our market
planning. As a luggage business, we knew that there were plenty of airport, travel agency,
university and area of our company is at elite place . So we decided that we would offer the
luggage to the all traveller include business person and student that study aboard . Yes, this
decision eliminated a percentage of the market but it also gave us a niche that we could capitalize
on, and expanded our market in a way that other charter operators could not take advantage of.

We divide the market segmentation into two. First and foremost, demographic factors which is
age, occupation and psychographics.

a) Age

The range for the age from 20 to 50 years old. The young adult market consists of young adults
ages 20 to 34. It contains about 24 percent of the population and is important because of both
size and purchasing power. People in this age group get their first major career positions, get
married, establish homes, and start families. They are the vital market segment for marketers. We
know that this group has major needs and wants, has the money to satisfy them, and is willing to
spend. The middle aged market is made up of ages 35 to 64. This group has the most buying
power and buys the largest number of consumer goods and services. Many middle aged people,
particularly the older ones, are at the peak of their earning power. Thus, this market segment
receives much attention from the makers of high priced, top quality goods and services.

16
b) Occupation

For the occupation we only offered our luggage to specific profession such as traveller, pilot,
and business person. This is because our luggage high in cost. So we need to limit or customer
who only have really stable economy.

c) Psychographics

Other factors is psychographics. Many businesses offer products based on the attitudes, beliefs
and emotions of their target market. The desire for status, enhanced appearance and more money
so do us. Sicuro can be describe as a seller of luxury items that would appeal to an individual’s
desire for status symbols.Business customers, as well as consumers, can be described in
psychographic terms. We view them as cutting edge or high technology, socially responsible,
stable and strong. These distinctions help in determining how our company is positioned and
how we can use the company’s position as a marketing tactic.

6.2.3 Market size

A survey that we make showed that pilot made a businessmen of about RM 156875 a week or
RM 627900 a month on Sicuro. Then we proceed to estimate the potential sales for the year as
RM 7534800. Before Sikuro estimate final market size, we took consideration factors that may
affects sales such as school holidays and seasonal days. Using this information Sicuro estimated
the market size to be only RM 1 000 000.

6.3 Marketing Strategies

The marketing strategy consists of four key variables, also known as the 4p’s of marketing.
These four variables are product, price, place and promotion.

6.3.1 Product strategy

Sicuro which mean safe, safe in terms of durability of our products. Made of high quality
materials and also high quality. We use high-grade materials which is aluminium and
polycarbonate. Its very durable and offers more style choices, in colours and patterns. After the
luggage has been made, it will be place in packaging cardboard and polysterine. This luggage has
been design in shape of rectangle and have four wheel at each of edge.

23
6.3.2 Pricing strategy

Pricing is difficult and must reflect the supply and demand relationship. Pricing a product too
high or too low could mean a loss of sales for the Sicuro. So in pricing we count a few factors
which is fixed and variable costs, competition, company objectives, proposed positioning
strategies, target group and willingness customers to pay. use 2We type of price strategies which
is skimming pricing and competition pricing. For skimming pricing, Sicuro sets an initial high
price and then slowly lowers the price to make the Sicuro available to a wider market. The
objective is to skim profits of the market layer by layer. While, competition pricing
setting a price in comparison with competitors. We have three options, price lower, price the
same, or price higher.

Markup price = RM575 + (0.3 X 575)

= RM747.50
6.3.3 Distribution Strategy

We used exclusive distribution method involves limiting distribution to a single outlet. Since
Sicuro is highly priced, and requires the intermediary to place much detail in its sell. Next,
selective distribution a small number of retail outlets are chosen to distribute the Sicuro, because
where consumers are willing to shop around and where manufacturers want a large geographical
spread.

6.3.4 Promotion Strategy

A successful products means nothing unless the benefit to the product so that can be
communicated clearly to the target market. Sicuro used advertising, sales promotion, and internet
promotion. For advertising we use a form of mass media by advertise at billboard and CJ Shop.
While for sales promotion, we provide loyalty cards, coupons, price promotions for point of sales,
packaging promotions and web coupons. Lastly, internet promotion advertising via the use of
banner ads, flash videos, and Google keywords.
