Title: English Carnival 2016

1. On 12th july 2016, we the members of 5 Amanah have organized a programme called English
Carnival with English Society as the co-comitee organizer. We came up with this whole idea
probably after our mid year exam in order to imrove our english while helping the other students
too. We had prepared all the stuffs for this programme before the holiday of Hari Raya Aidilfitri
last 2 weeeks. We were divided into nine groups with each group has three or four members. The
carnival was held at Dewan Suluh Bakti hall from 8.10am until 1pm. Each group was presenting
a different topics such as What Has Happened to Lulu and A poison Tree for the poem, grammar
and also, idioms. We drew lot to pick the topic fairly. Our aim for this carnival are the form four
and five students but surely, we opened it to all students and teachers of the morning session. To
make sure the carnival run smoothly, we arranged a schedule for each class to come and join the
carnival within the provided time. We all agreed to have a theme for this programme to make
sure it can attract the students for it’s interesting appearance. We had chose fairytale concept for
the theme. Each group picked a well –known fairytale such as Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella and
our group itself chose Snow white as the theme. As the main theme for the hall decoration, Alice
in Wonderland was choosen to create a fairytale atmosphere when the visitors, which are the
students and teachers step into the hall.

2. A day before the carnival, half of our class’s members decorated the hall after the school
hours. The table were arranged by each group’s members as the booth for the group. We didn’t
get to finish the hall’s decoration because it is already late. We dismissed around 6pm and
decided to continue the decorating on the next day before the carnival start. On the exact day of
the carnival. Many of us came early to finish the decoration. It came out to be so captivate and
attractive. We all did it together to make sure the carnival will give joy and information to the
student. It was a busy morning on that day. Everone was nervous but at the same time was
excited to begin the carnival as this is our first time organizing such programme. Some of us
wore costume depends on our group’s theme. As example, a group with Red Riding Hood as the
theme, the members wore red hoods as the costume. As for our group, I wore a red hood to
potray the character of Evil Queen in Snow White’s tale.

3. The carnival began around 8.30a.m. We had 5 Bakti, 5 Efisien and 4 Amanah as our first
three visitors. The principal gave some opening speech at 9am. We were quite nervous but
thrilled to explain our topic at first. For my group, we divided our task . Amira and I were in
charged of explaining the meaning, theme, and moral Values of A Poison Tree poem while Adib
managed the game. We have provided some simple games such as match the phrase from the
poem with correct pictures that were given. We also provided some gifts for all of the winners
such as notebook, drinks, candies and many more. For other groups, they also provided games
such as tounge twist from thr English Society, ahisper challenge by Aina’s group which
presented grammar topic and puzzle game by Dhiya’s group. From our observations, , most of
the students were putting interesnt in this programme and enjoyed it eventhough some of them
didn’t really pay attention to our explanation. The hall was merrier with students, To be Honest,
we were really tired but we kept on going to make sure all of the students that came will return
with some new knowledges.

4. The carnival finally ende at 1p.m. We were glad that it ran as smooth as what we hoped. We
all took some photos together as memories that we wouldn’t forget. Eventhough we were extra
tired, we were complacency for doing the programe with our own eoffort and help from Puan
Shamsida. We took as many picture as we can to make sure this memories will always be kept in
our mind. After the photo sesiion, we all worked together to clean the hall as it is before we use it.
It was really a mess in the hall because there were so many rubbish everywhere on the floor.
You can find the candies’ wrapper everywhere. We put the tables exactly at where we took it .
Some of us swept the floor, clean the ‘dining table’at the centre of the hall and took down all the
decoration. We want to make sure the hall rreturn to its’ own condition as if it was untouched.
We got to finished the cleaning in short time which is about 20 minutes or less since all of us feel
responsible to clean the hall. After finishing the cleaning, some of us who still didn’t return home
took photos this time at our ‘own made’ photobooth since we didn’t even got time to take
pictures there because we were too busy during the carnival. We all dismissed nearly 2pm.

5. As conclusion, this carnival had gave us many good experiences such as in teaching others
about something and how important the teamwork especially when we are doing task in group.
Without teamwork, I am sure this carnival wouldn’t even exist. I, as the representive of group 6
want to thank Puan Shamsida and the pricipal, Puan Rokiah for giving us this rare opportunities,
We would also want to give a special thanks to Puan Shamsida for the encouragement that you
gave to us in our progress organizing this carnival. I really hope that this kind of programme will
be held again in the future eventhough we wouldn’t be in this school anymore. Not just for the
English subjects, but other subjects also. This will improve the students’ skills in that subject.
There is also many things that need improvement in this carnival when it reconvend in the future.
I hope this programme will leave a great impact to the studentds. Thank you.
