Thailand Education’s budget

Imagine a country without education? What will it be like? Will it still be a country?
One of the reasons why Thailand provides a lot of budget for education is to develop Thai
student learning skills to make it world class.

Thailand gives a lot of funds to education meanwhile, it is still behind other

countries. It puts a lot of effort in tutoring student. Therefore, Thailand also have public
school which are free for school age children until grade 9. Kids in Thailand usually spend at
least 7 hours in school. Thailand classifies education in three levels which are pre-primary,
primary, and secondary. About 99 percent of the students pass the primary level but only
85 percent pass the secondary level. The government also provide some elective courses
for the student to choose from. They tried very hard to pull up the overall learning skills of
students. From the article of Madeline Forwerck, It use up 19.35 percent of the budget that
year for education in 2015. Unfortunately, they don’t use the money to help the rural
schools that are poor. Instead, they use it for high standard schools which student already
have good learning skills. In the year 2013, They was voted by Thai people to be one of the
low standards in ASEAN for education. It was also in the rank of 50 in PISA test. It provides a
lot more money on education when the PISA score came out. PISA is the test which will be
taken by some rural school and high standard school. This will be counted as the country’s
overall education. The total number of countries participating in PISA test is about 100
countries and Thailand is in a low rank.

Thailand gives a lot of budget to education, but it is still behind other countries. This
is because the government cannot manage the money good enough.
