Solid Waste Management

Aim
The aim of this research work is to
study and characterize the Solid waste
generated in Landmark University
campus.
Objectives Solid Waste Management

 To study existing waste management system.

 Grouping of the University into zones based
on prevailing activities on campus.
 Estimation of waste generation rate.
 To collect waste generated by zones and
characterize such.
 To analyze results from characterization and
deduce a recommendation for final disposal.

CONCLUSION AND RECOMMENDATION

● University authority should determine the disposal site and

penal action for illegal disposal of garbage on roads,
drainages, and institution’s environment.
● Establishment of particular disposal sites and regular
monitoring of disposal sites etc. should be ensured.
● Wastes may be converted to organic manure that can be
used as organic fertilizer and recyclable waste, i.e. paper,
plastic, glass, ceramic and metal can be reused by recycling
and incineration of medical waste.
● A sanitary landfill should be established in the campus for
dumping of hazardous waste.
● Waste from ash and dust can be recycled to produce
potash, which is a good fertilizer.
