ACKNOWLEGMENT

A sincere feeling of gratitude is expressed to the great institution of

INSTITUTE OF ROAD AND TRANSPORT TECHNOLOGY; ERODE
which has been provided an opportunity to fulfill a long cherished desire of
becoming a STRUCTURAL ENGINEER.
With profound sincerity and amiable gratitude I acknowledge the help
rendered by various people of our college that boosted our confidence every
day. First, I would like to thank our Principal Dr.R.ANITA, for providing
various facilities for this successful completion.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude and thanks to
Dr.R.MURUGESAN, Assistant Professor, (Senior Grade) Head of the
Department, (Civil Engineering) for providing us all sorts facilities for
completing my seminar.
I thank our PARENTS for providing us the right opportunity and
strength.
I also thank my extreme gratitude to friends who have given their
suggestions to complete my seminar in a successful manner.
ABSTRACT
As part of the M.E. Structural Engineering curriculum we have to give
a presentation on a topic related to structural engineering. This is for the
reason that we should be capable of acquiring written and oral abilities.
I had presented on the topics earthquake resistance of tall structures by
tuned mass damper(TMD) and stainless steel and cathodic production method
before the audience. I learnt to interact and face the audience during seminar
hours. The primary aim of my presentation is “to learn technically about the
tuned mass damper and detail information on the corrosion prevention
methods for cathodic production techniques”.
The subject is acquiring tremendous significance as we continue to use TMDs
with variable damping components for the control of wind-induced vibrations
in tall buildings. We have more experience from previously earth quake datas.
We realize that isolation technic not only used for resist earth quake.
Corrosion of reinforcement structures is one of the major problems of
marine and pipe line works concern and several methods have been
recommended for its control and prevention. Among the more common
methods is the use of cathodic production method (CPM) bars which have
been widely discussed in this subject.
