ARGWELD® INFLATABLE PIPE PURGE SYSTEMS
One product to achieve this is the Argweld® Inflatable Purge System.
An inflatable pipe purge system will reduce your gas usage for purging pipes and save
so much time, that each one will pay for itself within a few welds.
Foam dams, cardboard discs and other provisional purging methods contain water and
trapped oxygen, which, when warmed by the weld, outgas and contaminate the weld.
By using an Argweld® system risk to weld integrity is
minimised and the weld made faster.
Purge systems are available for all pipe sizes from 2"
upwards, each fabricated with a polyurethane coated
nylon cover to provide a friction free surface to slide
easily through pipes, avoid snagging and to protect
the device from damage.
For pre-heated pipes, a heat resistant covered system
is available, providing protection up to 300 degrees

ARGWELD PURGE MONITOR AND TITANIUM PURGE MONITOR
It is important to know when its safe to weld.
We offer 2 monitors to ensure that the purge gas is pure enough to weld.
The world standard Argweld® Purge Monitor is a battery powered hand held device which
will show when the oxygen has been removed to below 0.1%.
The Argweld ® Titanium Purge Monitor for
Titanium, Zirconium and their alloys, as well as
high spec stainless steels, measures and
displays accurately down to 10ppm. This model
features an internal alarm with a high low set

supplies, gas valves etc and an RS232 link.
The PurgeLog software allows real time logging and the ability to print charts showing
the weld purge cycles.
ARGWELD® WATER SOLUBLE PURGE FILM Argweld® Titanium Purge Monitor
Argweld® Water Soluble Purge Film is used for closing welds where purging
systems cannot be withdrawn from pipes after welding.
Once the weld is complete the film will fully dissolve when the pipe system is
hydrostatically tested or washed out.
Trace element certification can be provided.
Huntingdon Fusion Techniques Limited manufactures low cost kits of film. Our
film is totally water soluble in cold water and provides an impenetrable gas
barrier.

ARGWELD® TRAILING SHIELDS
Argweld® Trailing Shields are available for all automatic or manual TIG or Plasma torches.
Three styles allow welding of flat or radiused material whether from the inside or outside.
The shields give an extended gas coverage to prevent the weld zone from oxidising
following welding.
Argweld® Trailing Shields can be used for welding stainless steels, duplexes as well as
titanium and any other weldable metal where discoloration or oxidation needs to be
Argweld® Trailing Shields eliminated. They also allow larger, regular titanium structures to be welded outside of
a Purge Enclosure.
ARGWELD® FLEXIBLE ENCLOSURES
Argweld® Flexible Welding Enclosures create a fully inert atmosphere to eliminate any
oxidation of the material during or after welding.
Customers include Multi National Companies who have ordered more than one enclosure.
They are available as standard sizes from 900mm to 1800mm diameter.
Flexible Enclosures are portable and are ideal for transportation. They have a translucent
PVC sides, while the top is constructed from an optically clear plastic to provide total
visibility.
The material is resistant to embrittlement by ultra violet rays. Each enclosure has 2 pairs
of glove ports, one on either side to allow excellent access to the item(s) inside for welding
and manipulation. In addition, a panel of sealed glands allows connection of all services
for the inside, such as gas, weld torch leads etc.

ARGWELD® BACKING TAPE
Argweld® Weld Backing Tape is used for single sided welding and supports a
molten weld pool to provide a flat, smooth, slag free weld root.
Two versions allow welding either up to 80 amps or 160 amps.
The tape comprises a 75 mm wide adhesive aluminium tape, in the centre of
which is a 25 mm wide band of glass fibre.
Backing tape can be used for all weldable materials to save time and money
by eliminating slag and dramatically reducing grinding, pickling and polishing.

ARGWELD® NYLON EXPANDING PURGE PLUGS
Argweld® Pipe Purging Plugs can be used for blocking outlets and holes during
purging of pipework fabrications.
They are ideal for shorter length fabrications where conventional purging
systems might not be practical.
They are also used for stopping ingress of dirt, moisture and vermin into
pipework systems as well as for low pressure testing of fabricated assemblies
Threaded shafts allow for the connection of hoses and hose nuts.
