1. Project Description
M/s. Wipro Developer is proposed to construct a Data Centre in Kodathi Campus at Bangalore.
The various spaces in the building as listed below have to be Air-conditioned / Ventilated.
M/s. Wipro Kodathi Data centre building consists of Ground, first, second & Terrace floor.
Sl.No. Description
Racks Details:
At first floor MSR 40 racks of 10 KVA each & 160 racks of 8 KVA each
MSR Racks:
A. Present phase: 80Racks of 8 KVA and 20 Racks of 10 KVA.
B. Future phase: 80Racks of 8 KVA and 20 Racks of 10 KVA.
MCR Racks:
Note: No lighting considered since only the lighting will be switched on wherever required for maintenance.
5. Reference Standards:
Following standard & guidelines shall be adopted while designing the HVAC system.
1. Conventional system
2. Air to air Heat Exchanger with PAC machines
3. IEC proposal with PAC machines. (Eliminated from detailing since client does not want to
use water spray on the secondary side of the PHE)
After done the analysis between conventional system and heat exchanger we could
save only Rs.3.5 Million/year whereas our capital investment cost is RS 274.5 million.
Comparing with capital investment our cost savings/year is not valuable. So we have
concluded with client acceptance to go with conventional system with PAC
machines.
3. 750mm raised insulated floor to be used as a supply plenum and the plenum to be maintained at 6 Pascal positive
pressure
4. Floor tiles both active and passive will be used to supply the air from the plenum in to the contained cold isle
5. Cold Isle to be maintained at a positive pressure of 6 Pascal using variable speed fans in the AHUs and fan aided tiles
6. Hot air collected from the higher level is passed through special filters to reduce degassing and avoid gaseous
contaminants
7. This hot air is passed through the hot aisle plenum and re circulating the return air to PAC units through return air
plenum.
9. Each floor rack area consists of 2 nos MSR and 2 nos MCR with partitions on the above floor level .However false
10. Bothe the floors racks rooms will be considered as two wing ,half of the wing will be handled by one set of machines
with N+1 redundancy+4 filter machines and another half of the wing will be handled by another set of machines with
11. Bothe the wings false floor shall be segregated by fire tight partition.
8. Total Load summery:
Capacity :-650 TR
Qty :-2 Nos. (2 Working)
Type :- Variable Primary with Centrifugal Compressor Chillers.
Chw. In/Out : 16 / 22°C.
Flow Rate : 2.2gpm/TR.
Capacity :- 650TR
Qty :- 1 Nos. ( Standby )
Type :- Variable Primary with Screw Compressor Chillers.
Chw. In/Out :- 16/22°C.
Flow Rate :- 2.22gpm/TR.
Chiller Plant room is Located at the ground floor level of Data Centre building.
All water cooled chilles shall be located at ground floor plant room.
Air cooled chiller shall be placed on terrace level.
All the Pumps are on a common header which will be located inside the Water cooled chiller plant room.
Apart from the above equipments, Chilled water system consists of Air separator, Side stream filter,
Electromagnetic descaler and Compression tank etc.,
Refrigerant used is R134a which is environmentally friendly.
C.Cooling Tower
CTI Approved Cooling Tower
High efficiency Cooling Tower ( Approach Temperature 2Deg C )
D.Centrifugal Pumps:
Centrifugal Inline type pumps.
Motors ( EE1 ) shall be energy efficient, TEFC type
Provided with mechanical seal.
Untrimmed Impeller.
4 pole Motor.
chiller Evaporators are provided with common primary chilled water pump station
Variable flow type activated through Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) based on the load fluctuation.
Primary chilled water pumps suction line is provided with an isolation valve, Y-Strainer, and pressure
Gauge. Discharge line is provided with isolation valve, Non-Return valve, and pressure gauge.
N+1 Redundancy
Chillers condenser are provided with common Condenser water pump station
Each condenser pump is provided with VFD only for balancing while commissioning.
VFD using as starting device to achieve maximum flow without trimming the impeller. Hence condenser
pumps shall be constant flow.
Primary Condenser water pumps suction line is provided with an isolation valve, Y-Strainer, and pressure
Gauge. Discharge line is provided with isolation valve, Non-Return valve, and pressure gauge.
N+1 Redundancy
UPS Room1 Load =27TR (5% heat emission considered from 45% of UPS load as per client inputs=5000x0.45x0.05)
UPS Room 2 Load =27 TR(5% heat emission considered from 45% of UPS load as per client inputs =5000x0.45x0.05)
10.4Working principle:
11.2Working principle:
12.Ventilation:
A.TOILETS:
All the toilet exhaust shall be through propeller fan which is kept on the toilet wall at each individual
toilet.
Fresh air to toilets will be drawn from through Door louvers
Exhaust air for Toilet shall be at 60cfm per fixtures.
B.ELECTRICAL ROOM:
Electrical room at all the floors shall be provided with exhaust system.
Exhaust duct from each Electrical room will be connected to individual exhaust fan.
Each electrical room will be provided with inline exhaust fan.
Main Electrical rooms @ Ground Panel Heat dissipation shall be considered 0.5% from the total load
for sensible cooling.
Air quantity calculated considering Delta t 9Deg F from ambient.
Fresh air will be fed by fresh air fan by considering 120% of exhaust cfm to maintain positive pressure
in electrical room.
Exhaust & Fresh air supply shall be achieved by duct system.
Floor electrical room ventilation shall be done by propeller fans.
Fresh air will be drawn by door louvers by considering 15ACPH.
C.PLANT ROOM:
Plant Room ventilation shall be done by propeller fan.
Fresh air louvers shall be provided in plant room wall/Door
Exhaust air for plant room considered 15ACPH.
13.Electrical load:
Load Calculation
14.System design excellence:
Chilled water system design excellence is achieved by selecting the following:
1) Elevated Higher water temperature chiller
2) High COP Chillers shall be selected.
3) Primary variable chiller.
4) Lower water temperature chiller capacity is minimized as low as possible.
5) Non-CFC refrigerant shall be used.
6) R134a refrigerant shall be used which is environmental friendly.
7) All motors including pumps, AHU’s and Exhaust fans shall be EFF1.
