WORK EXPERIENCE

The Club Inclusion (Adults with Disabilities) June 2017-August 2017


Inclusion Officer
 Checked trip locations around HRM by calling and visiting each location to assure they
were accessible resulting in at least once field trip per week.
 Contacted parents/guardians by phone with a debrief about camp and answered any
questions allowing councilors to be better prepared for each camper resulting in fewer
seizures, allergic reactions and campers being sent home.
 Cleaned space before camp started by going through past camp supplies, and equipment
resulting in reusing supplies to run activities and programs.
 Assured campers were included in all activities through encouraging them to participate
through positive affirmation and demonstration of activities resulting in campers
participating in group activity or choosing another individual activity.
 Assisted in field trips by keeping a count of each camper in our group and our partners
group resulting in no campers being left behind.
 Followed safety protocols if camper went missing or had a medical emergency by
reviewing each camper’s medical form and having it with us resulting in a safe camping
experience.

 Ran a Multicultural food event in the International Center at Dalhousie. Recruited and
worked closely with members from a variety of societies to plan event using the APIE
process.
 Measured target population, coordinated volunteers and group members, advertised,
implemented program and formatted evaluations for volunteers, participants and
attendees.

 Interviewed two people with Down Syndrome, gaining their perspectives on how they
view themselves, how others view them and how they navigate in their daily lives. Gave
a class presentation on these findings.

 Designed a specific program plan with a client around leisure goals, included full
