INTRODUCTION
“Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss…” James 4:3
So much has been written, said and heard about prayer in our time that the
word “prayer” really does not seem to grip us anymore: on seeing this book,
I know pretty well that you may wonder – Any new thing this time?
As you read, I believe you will catch some fire that will keep you burning –
you will discover what it takes to pray the right prayers and get results! You
will not miss it again!
“From whence come wars and fighting’s among you? come they
not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members? Ye lust,
and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye
fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not. Ye ask, and
receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon
your lusts. Ye adulterers and adulteresses know ye not that the
friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whosoever
therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Do ye
think that the scripture saith in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in
us lusteth to envy? But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he
saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the
9
humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil,
and he will flee from you” James 4:1-7
I pray that you receive a clear understanding of this scripture. What is the
scripture saying? Wars and fights that exist in our lives; where do they
originate from? The scripture identifies a source – your desire for pleasure!
When what you desire for are pleasures, you have created a problem for
yourself. How? It is the desire for pleasure that makes you stay awake
plotting how to make it by all means! Rather than seek God’s face in
prayers, you begin with the wrong steps – you lust – lust: (violent desire to
possess something) this violent desire will deter you from receiving from
God for God does not operate in LUST but in LOVE! That is why: as long
as you live in that lust, you will never have anything from God! Mark this: if
you do not retrace your steps from lust, you will soon be lost!
When lust fails to yield in your life and matures, it leads you into
committing another evil – you murder! – You are still a Christian but: you
murder! You kill in your heart and this could lead to an outward
manifestation of physical abuse and in fact you may even kill and cover it
up – yet covet, another deadly step – covetousness – you are not satisfied
with what God has given to you, you want to have what another person has
by all means and at all cost! But scripture says – it’s not that way, for you
cannot obtain!
You now declare for fight and war! You become an enemy to people who
have done you no wrong! You try all your evil strategies still it doesn’t work
– you still do not have!
10
At this point, you make heaven wonder if you actually understand and
know whom you are and what you are doing! The reason is simple – you
refuse to do the right thing! You are your own problem! – You do not pray,
you do not ask. To worsen your matter, when you even decide to “try”
prayers you still fail! The reason is that you are not praying aright. You are
not praying with good intentions – you pray amiss, how? What you are
asking for is what you want to spend on your pleasures!
Altogether, you have failed to pray according to his will! You are now
following the pattern of the world and not that of God; by this, you place
yourself on a wrong platform and as such, you receive nothing from God!
As long as your prayer is geared towards selfishness: and something to
pride about, you cannot receive it, for it will only increase pride in your life
and since God resists the proud – God will now resist you! What will be
happening in your life will be the opposite! Rather than you resisting the
devil and him fleeing from you; you make God to resist you!
When you resist the devil, he flees from you! When God resists
you, you are finished! Where will you flee to?
Why do you encounter all these obstacles, problems and challenges? – You
do not pray aright! Therefore, as you read this book, make up your mind to
begin a fresh prayer campaign that will cause the heavenly fire to continue
to burn in your life. When you do, the rays of God’s light which shines in
darkness of which darkness cannot comprehend will shine upon your life
and those around you will be unable to comprehend your outstanding
breakthroughs.

CHAPTER 1 - LORD TEACH US TO PRAY
“How to pray is to pray”. This is a famous statement on the lips of many but
from the scripture above, it is evident that you have to learn to pray. Prayer
is not a gift of the spirit! If it were, there will be no need to learn it! You
don’t learn gifts of the spirit, you receive them!
By the word of the disciples: Teach us to pray; it is evident that a man may
watch another praying, day-in day-out, without himself being able to pray!
Prayer is not a careless duty, it is not a ritual, it is the way to touch God – it
is speaking to God! When you are close to a person, you will always feel a
need – a burden to speak to and with that person. That is why I say here:
What you need to enable you commune and communicate effectively with
God is a burden! When your heart is heavy, you will not need anybody to
push you, you will simply begin to go to the almighty to unburden your
burdens! Therefore stop asking God for a gift of prayer, be burdened and
you will pray!
13
It takes a heavy heart to go and say: This is my burden - not going to God to
complain, prayer is not complaining but going to God to make your request
known unto him.
When thou prayest, say: Our father which art in heaven! If you are
actually praying, it means you are addressing God. You are speaking to
the Ancient of days, the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end.
If you are praying, you must genuinely watch what you are saying! Don’t be
hasty, it is your mouth that you are using in prayers, therefore whatever you
ask, if truly you know you are praying, talk to God who alone can do all
things, you will know that you are going to receive them!
14
everything to God in prayer.
If you are not praying, you are playing! → If you don’t pray, you become a
prey! → If you don’t pray, you pay!
When we refuse to pray, we have pains! You can stop that pain, that
trouble, that confusion, by prayers! You must begin to pray from today!
Imagine a son, who doesn’t talk to the father, when he has problems, he
doesn’t tell him, that son will die in his troubles! Stop complaining, go and
tell your father!
You need to constantly advance, from glory to glory in your prayer life. That
is why Jesus taught a parable in Luke 18: 1 stating that men must pray and
not faint! To go into prayers and receive, you must prepare, for: if you do
not prepare, you will never produce!
Prayer is not a ritual; you don’t pray to fulfill all righteousness, in prayers,
you commune with God! Prayer means communion with God! It could be
referred to as dialogue or conversation with God. Hence, it is a two – way
15
thing: we talk to the father and then listen to hear him talk back to us! The
oxford dictionary defined it as a ‘solemn request or thanksgiving to God!
Don’t rush into praying or praying anyhow, whatever you do not know in
the natural, do yourself a favour, learn it! Whatever you learn, you don’t
easily forget!
As you read and apply the contents of this book, you will begin to
encounter results not only in your prayer life, but in life generally! Is it
dying, you have a duty: don’t let it die – you are the one to do it:
You cannot afford to live a prayer-less Christian life, don’t let the devil
frustrate you, and don’t frustrate yourself. Therefore, learn to pray;
pray in the morning, pray in the afternoon, pray in the evening – without
ceasing: for as you pray, you frustrate the devil! You are to pray
without stopping – keep aflame in your prayers!
God has deposited so much in you, Christ has paid the price for you on the
cross, the world is waiting for your manifestation, you cannot afford to live
a life of capacity underutilization. Your whole essence and fullness (every
and different aspects of your life) can only exceptionally manifest under
continual activation! Prayer is that force that will help you to constantly
commune with God, hear and receive the instructions that will continue to
power your walk in life that make you a wonder and an amazement to your
world all round.
Therefore, you cannot afford to miss out from this release of God; whether
walking or standing still or sitting down; be sure to keep your spirit
connected to God in prayers for says the Lord:
“… the days are evil…” Eph. 5:16
16
As you adventure again into prayer understanding it as an activating force,
you will discover that you will never be down again.
“And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him,
crying, and saying, Thou Son of David, have mercy on us. And
when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him:
and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this?
They said unto him, Yea, Lord. Then touched he their eyes,
saying, According to your faith be it unto you. And their eyes
were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that
no man know it” Matt. 9:27-30
These blind men made a request – have mercy on us! When they knew and
affirmed that Jesus was able to open their eyes, he said unto them – be it
unto you according to your faith. Faith is an essential ingredient in prayers.
Before you pray, do you believe that God can do it? If you still doubt in your
heart, that prayer is already wasted! You cannot receive an answer. God
wants to know what you are up to. If you believe it you will get it, but if you
don’t, you will never get it! Here, men have great problems. Your faith is
what makes you whole! Until you believe, you don’t receive! That is why:
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are
possible to him that believeth” Mark 9:23
17
PRAY ACCORDING TO HIS WILL
“And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which
art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy
will be done, as in heaven, so in earth” Luke 11:2
When you have faith that God is able to do a thing, you get that thing as you
pray! It is not only praying in faith that makes you get it, you have to pray in
faith, “according to his will”. What is his will? God’s will is his word. As
God’s word is completely being obeyed in heaven, so is it to be done here on
earth. You are the one to know/find out what God wants you to do and
comply with it and as you do, he will grant you your requests because you
have become an obedient servant!
As you study the scriptures, you realize what God has said about his world
and about your life. When you want to do something, you find out first;
what is God saying about what I want to do? Is it in line with his word?
When you find out that it is in line with his word, then you have found out
his will. Now, pray accordingly to his will, pray his word, as you do, God will
send you the answer speedily. Therefore, don’t pray anyhow, stop praying
anyhow, pray according to his will:
Therefore:
18
Someone may still ask again: What is his will? Hear this: Knowing God’s
will is not as complex as some of us think, God’s will is simple:
- In the area of Prosperity and Health, his will is clear from several
Scriptures but take John’s word in 3 John 2 – it is that you may
prosper and be in health according as your soul prospers.
- In the area of Fruitfulness: Marital, Business etc, His will is clear
in so many scriptures, but take Genesis 1:28 – “And God blessed
them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and
replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of
the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that
moveth upon the earth” God wants you to be fruitful!
It is same in every area of life – God wills that it will be well with you and
that is why the devil is angry and wants to frustrate and stop you.
Therefore, you must arise and enforce what God has ordained for you.
19
Take a look at the situation around your life, family, community or nation;
the things going on, to you, do they look like what God has allowed to
happen? Are you satisfied with the turn of events around you? If you are
not, what do you desire that it be done with those situations? Those your
desires are the things that in prayer, you are expected to continue to tell
God what you expect, what you desire or wish that they happen. As you
begin to make those presentations, God will do his part in bringing them to
pass! By implication, in prayer we order events more appropriately to go in
our favour. Are you in captivity as in any form of bondage or situation that
you do not understand or like, don’t die in silence, you have a God that
hears and answers prayer, call him, keep calling him, don’t keep quiet, he
will surely hear you!
YOUR PRAYERS
When we refuse to forgive those who have sinned against us, and we keep
praying, we make it impossible for God to answer our prayers. David said:
20
“If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”
Psalm 66:18
When you refuse to forgive those who have sinned against you, you live in
sin because unforgiveness proceeds from the heart. By that, it becomes
difficult for God to hear your prayer. In teaching the disciples prayer, Jesus
taught them to say:
“And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is
indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us
from evil” Luke 11:4
If this is what Jesus taught, it means that if we do not forgive those who
have sinned against us, we live in sin, and God will therefore not forgive our
sins! If that is the case, our prayers may therefore not be answered! Forgive
therefore, that your sin may be forgiven:
PARABLE ON FORGIVENESS
“Then came Peter to him, and said, Lord, how oft shall my
brother sin against me, and I forgive him? Till seven times?
Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, until seven times: but,
until seventy times seven. Therefore is the kingdom of heaven
likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his
21
servants. And when he had begun to reckon, one was brought
unto him, which owed him ten thousand talents. But forasmuch
as he had not to pay, his lord commanded him to be sold, and
his wife, and children, and all that he had, and payment to be
made. The servant therefore fell down, and worshipped him,
saying, Lord, have patience with me, and I will pay thee all.
Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and
loosed him, and forgave him the debt. But the same servant
went out, and found one of his fellow servants, which owed him
an hundred pence: and he laid hands on him, and took him by
the throat, saying, Pay me that thou owest. And his fellow
servant fell down at his feet, and besought him, saying, Have
patience with me, and I will pay thee all. And he would not: but
went and cast him into prison, till he should pay the debt. So
when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very
sorry, and came and told unto their lord all that was done. Then
his lord, after that he had called him, said unto him, O thou
wicked servant, I forgave thee all that debt, because thou
desiredst me: Shouldest not thou also have had compassion on
thy fellow servant, even as I had pity on thee? And his lord was
wroth, and delivered him to the tormentors, till he should pay
all that was due unto him. So likewise shall my heavenly Father
do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not everyone
his brother their trespasses” Matt. 18:21-35
Don’t forgive with your mouth only; forgive truly from your heart!
22
PRAY IN SECRET
Some people have made it a habit – whenever they are in an open place,
they pray ceaselessly, so that people will see that they are praying. These
are the people God is referring to. God is saying here, that prayers that
are required for great works are not prayers prayed in the open
but those prayed in the closet! That is why he says: pray to your
father, which is in secret. Go into your closet and pray. When you do, you
will receive an open reward. When you come to the open, God will send you
a great reward. Therefore go for secret praying! Pray from your heart, pray
earnestly, for it is the earnest effective and fervent prayer of the righteous
man that availeth much.
23
don’t go into vain repetition for God does not hear you for your much
speaking. It is not how many words you pray that produce results, but
how earnest and how effective you pray; for: “The effectual fervent
prayer of a righteous man availeth much” James 5:16
Mark this: Whatever you are going to ask in prayers God knows them
already, he wants you to do your own part – Ask: “For every one that
asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that
knocketh it shall be opened” Matt. 7:8
NB: 1. Secret prayer is tougher than public prayer but that’s what saves the
situation even faster.
2. Don’t wait till things get bad before you pray, pray in advance, prepare in
advance, wage your war before the war starts, in gross emergencies, you
may find yourself confused but when things are calm, pray and for that
matter, pray well so that when crisis arise, the assurance that you have
already prayed will make you stay calm knowing that the God whom you
have already spoken to is in charge and in control.
Therefore:
“He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most high shall abide
under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, He is
my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust” Psalm
91:1-2
24
If you want to abide under the shadow of the almighty God, you necessarily
need to go into his secret place. Stay alone, search the word of God and pray
to your father till you get it. Don’t just pray in the open; pray in the secret, it
works, for when you dwell in his secret place, you are confident of his
protection.
“But thou, when thou fastest, anoint thine head, and wash thy
face; That thou appear not unto men to fast, but unto thy Father
which is in secret: and thy Father, which seeth in secret, shall
reward thee openly” Matt. 6:17-18
“And he said unto them, this kind can come forth by nothing,
but by prayer and fasting” Mark 9:29
Fasting has a place in every great prayer life. You may not have a great
prayer life if you are not good at fasting. Jesus said himself that there are
some issues like in the case above, where it is not possible to have answer
except you add fasting to your prayer! Every great prayer life like those of
Daniel, Moses, Jesus, and more, were coupled with great fasting. If you are
not fasting, you are feasting! Therefore stop feasting and fast.
25
REMOVE DOUBT AND UNBELIEF
“Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all things are
possible to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the
child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou
mine unbelief” Mark 9:23-24
26
himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be
exalted” Luke 18:9-14
“And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that
sold therein, and them that bought; Saying unto them, It is
written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a
den of thieves” Luke 19:45-46
Mark this: from the beginning, God ordained his house to be a place of
prayer; where you run and call on his name and receive solution! BUT, the
devil will always seek to corrupt what God has done! Today, we have so
many “prayer houses”, where they know next to nothing about the correct
act of prayer! What they do in these places is to prophesy or release
prophecies to people aided by familiar spirits while some lace there services
with much shouting of Fire, fire, fire!!!
27
Nevertheless, there is something in praying in the temple! From the Old
Testament to the new, there are peculiarities in incidence and occurrences
that will stir you up to do some of your major prayers/praying in God’s
house of prayer!
SOLOMON’S TEMPLE
Look at the strong word God released here! He assured Solomon that he
will keep his own part of this covenant - if my people do the praying
required of them, I will not fail to answer them! God says: for any prayer
made in this place; my eyes will be open and my ears attentive! Why? The
temple is now chosen and sanctified! When we look down on the temple, we
make a mistake; for we look down on our blessings!
28
CONSIDER HANNAH PRAYING IN THE TEMPLE
“So Hannah rose up after they had eaten in Shiloh, and after
they had drunk. Now Eli the priest sat upon a seat by a post of
the temple of the LORD. And she was in bitterness of soul, and
prayed unto the LORD, and wept sore. And she vowed a vow,
and said, O LORD of hosts, if thou wilt indeed look on the
affliction of thine handmaid, and remember me, and not forget
thine handmaid, but wilt give unto thine handmaid a man child,
then I will give him unto the LORD all the days of his life, and
there shall no razor come upon his head. And it came to pass, as
she continued praying before the LORD, that Eli marked her
mouth. Now Hannah, she spake in her heart; only her lips
moved, but her voice was not heard: therefore Eli thought she
had been drunken. And Eli said unto her, How long wilt thou be
drunken? Put away thy wine from thee. And Hannah answered
and said, No, my lord, I am a woman of a sorrowful spirit: I
have drunk neither wine nor strong drink, but have poured out
my soul before the LORD. Count not thine handmaid for a
daughter of Belial: for out of the abundance of my complaint
and grief have I spoken hitherto. Then Eli answered and said,
go in peace: and the God of Israel grant thee thy petition that
thou hast asked of him. And she said, Let thine handmaid find
grace in thy sight. So the woman went her way, and did eat,
and her countenance was no more sad. And they rose up in the
morning early, and worshipped before the LORD, and returned,
and came to their house to Ramah: and Elkanah knew Hannah
his wife; and the LORD remembered her. Wherefore it came to
pass, when the time was come about after Hannah had
conceived, that she bare a son, and called his name Samuel,
saying, Because I have asked him of the LORD” 1 Sam. 1:1-20
29
The point in this incident is that by praying in the house of the Lord, a
Priest/Prophet of God who God positioned there at the time was used of
God, to ‘confirm’ the words of her prayer! As you go to the temple to pray,
get a Priest/Prophet of God to ‘confirm’ your prayers and you will not regret
it after all! Temple prayers are very powerful!
30
kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands,
and have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but
the work of men's hands, wood and stone: therefore they have
destroyed them. Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech
thee, save thou us out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the
earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.
Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, thus saith
the LORD God of Israel that which thou hast prayed to me
against Sennacherib king of Assyria I have heard. This is the
word that the LORD hath spoken concerning him; The virgin
the daughter of Zion hath despised thee, and laughed thee to
scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem hath shaken her head at thee.
Whom hast thou reproached and blasphemed? and against
whom hast thou exalted thy voice, and lifted up thine eyes on
high? even against the Holy One of Israel. By thy messengers
thou hast reproached the Lord, and hast said, With the
multitude of my chariots I am come up to the height of the
mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down the tall
cedar trees thereof, and the choice fir trees thereof: and I will
enter into the lodgings of his borders, and into the forest of his
Carmel. I have digged and drunk strange waters, and with the
sole of my feet have I dried up all the rivers of besieged places.
Hast thou not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient
times that I have formed it? Now have I brought it to pass, that
thou shouldest be to lay waste fenced cities into ruinous heaps.
Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were
dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field,
and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as
corn blasted before it be grown up. But I know thy abode, and
thy going out, and thy coming in, and thy rage against me.
31
Because thy rage against me and thy tumult is come up into
mine ears, therefore I will put my hook in thy nose, and my
bridle in thy lips, and I will turn thee back by the way by which
thou camest. And this shall be a sign unto thee, Ye shall eat this
year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year
that which springeth of the same; and in the third year sow ye,
and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat the fruits thereof. And
the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet
again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. For out of
Jerusalem shall go forth a remnant, and they that escape out of
mount Zion: the zeal of the LORD of hosts shall do this.
Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning the king of Assyria,
He shall not come into this city, nor shoot an arrow there, nor
come before it with shield, nor cast a bank against it. By the
way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not
come into this city, saith the LORD. For I will defend this city, to
save it, for mine own sake, and for my servant David's sake.
And it came to pass that night, that the angel of the LORD went
out, and smote in the camp of the Assyrians an hundred
fourscore and five thousand: and when they arose early in the
morning, behold, they were all dead corpses” 2 kings 19:8-35
From the foregoing, you can see that prayers prayed in the temple are
answered mightily! One great happening here is that temple prayers always
have prophetic assistance!
32
Temple prayers were so significant that it continued from the Old
Testament to the New. In fact it was so important and powerful that the
disciples had to go up to the temple to pray at the hour of prayer.
“Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the
hour of prayer, being the ninth hour” Acts 3:1
If you read verses 1 through 10, you will see the great miracle of healing
recorded. Why? Effect of committed prayer and anointed lives! May you
receive understanding and be stirred up to pray effective prayers in God’s
temple!
The story of the Pharisee and the publican in Luke 18:9-14 was in the
temple! Don’t let anybody deceive you and don’t deceive yourself; there is
a release that follows prayer made in God’s house – that’s why it is called –
a house of prayer! The false prophets who claim they run prayer houses are
among those who turn God’s house into a ‘den of thieves’; flee from such
people! Make up your mind to get answers in prayers, go to the temple
‘also’ and pray!
33
“The name of the LORD is a strong tower: the righteous runneth
into it, and is safe”
No matter how many demons are pursuing you, no matter the sanctum or
coven where they are doing enchantments against you, no matter how
powerful the occult group trailing you may be, the name of Jesus Christ of
Nazareth is above all of them! Understanding this, there is inherent power
in that name to bring answers in prayer, and solution to problems of life:
“And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is
given unto me in heaven and in earth” Matt. 28:18
“Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a
name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus
every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth,
and things under the earth; And that every tongue should
confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father”
Philippians 2:9-11
What is scripture saying? You have not yet taken this injunction serious!
You are still trying your effort to see if it will yield! May God help you! He
has given you the shortest cut to the solution – all you need to understand
is the power in that name – it has power to stop “every and all” forms of
abnormalities and make them irrelevant in your life!
He said you’ve not made any use of this – wake up! Begin to use this name
from today! Your turning around will surprise you; for says he:
What license is greater than this? Stop that lamentation and take action –
call his name – a new day will dawn in your life!
34
Pray this prayer now:
Oh! Lord, set my prayer life on fire in the name of Jesus Christ!
Jesus in teaching his disciples prayer, taught them to request for God to
give them day by day their daily bread. By implication, why people do not
receive answers to their prayers is because they ask for what they don’t
need!
In Christ’s teaching therefore, he was saying: Men should pray for what
they need, don’t say you are praying when you are merely expressing what
you want in your life! Ask for what you need, that is what God will give to
you! Inherent in his lesson is the fact that you will never beg! If you will ask
God for your daily need, you will not beg men! Stop your running around
and pray, for:
God’s mercies are new every morning. He wants to meet your needs every
day! God does not want you to die in your condition, the food for yesterday
is not for today, therefore pray for today’s miracle, everyday, ask God for
daily miracle, and you surely will get it.
35
Pray this prayer now:
PRAYER 201
5. I shall not die but live to testify of the goodness of God in the land of
the living therefore, every evil threatening my life and existence is hereby
terminated in the name of Jesus. Amen.
6. Jesus healed them all therefore, every form of disease sent against me
or anyone around me is not permitted to survive. Be destroyed in the name
of Jesus. Amen.
36
7. I have power over all powers of the enemy therefore, every evil power
manipulating my health and every other area of my life, be destroyed now
in the name of Jesus. Amen.
37
CHAPTER 2: IMPORTUNITY IN PRAYER
“And he said unto them, Which of you shall have a friend, and
shall go unto him at midnight, and say unto him, Friend, lend
me three loaves; For a friend of mine in his journey is come to
me, and I have nothing to set before him? And he from within
shall answer and say, Trouble me not: the door is now shut, and
my children are with me in bed; I cannot rise and give thee. I
say unto you, though he will not rise and give him, because he is
his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give
him as many as he needeth” Luke 11:5-8
In this parable, Jesus is teaching that we should not easily faint or give up
in prayer. By this parable, he is illustrating that in our asking, we are to
hold unto God and continue to make our requests. Even if God would not
have granted our requests, as we continue to trouble him, to press home
our cases, he will at a point decide to do it, because we have refused to give
up! By our continual praying, we make him restless – that is the import of
Isaiah 62:6-7
Look at the scripture, do not just sleep and say whatever happens, we take
it that way, you will die in your condition. You must change your position as
38
regards this today. This case is not a case of any demon holding up your
prayers from being answered, it is a case where you have recognized the
fact of scripture, which says:
“For promotion cometh neither from the east, nor from the
west, nor from the south. But God is the judge: he putteth down
one, and setteth up another” Psalm 75:6-7
You have recognized that establishment and consolidation in life come from
God alone; it does not come from any other source. Having recognized this
fact, you determine to believe God only, without doubt, that he is able to do
what you are asking for, then you refuse to be discouraged, and continue
praying, you must consciously refuse to give him rest till you are
established. When in the morning, noon, and night, God hears you praying
and saying ‘Lord, thy kingdom come, give me my miracle.’ I tell you, he is
the one that said you should pray like that, he will deliver your miracle to
you. Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged, it is possible to get it; you do not
get it by complaining, by lamenting or by worrying, you get it by regular,
constant and consistent prayer!
39
But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep
of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him,
saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, it is not meet
to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs. And she said,
Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their
masters' table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O
woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And
her daughter was made whole from that very hour” Matt. 15:22-
28
From the story above, we discover that in importunity, you must know how
to ask. The woman was not complaining, she was expressing what she
wanted Jesus to do for her. Available evidence from what Jesus said,
showed that it was not right for the woman to receive what she was asking
for; but she was importunate; she was asking Jesus for what was
inconvenient for him to give her at the time – giving the children’s bread to
dogs. Yet the woman did not say – Let me come again some other time, she
stayed and rather asked for the crumbs, at least, the dogs can have the
crumbs!
Hear this: you are not a dog, you are not meant for crumbs, don’t go for
crumbs, you are a child of God; it is your covenant right, to have the bread
from God’s table. That bread represents abundant provisions for every need
of yours. Why should you die in your condition – go to God, don’t ask for
crumbs, ask for the bread, God will not refuse you, don’t ask amiss, learn
that art of importunate praying, know what you really need, ask for it and
you will surely have it!
40
“And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye
shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you. For every one
that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him
that knocketh it shall be opened. If a son shall ask bread of any
of you that is a father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a
fish, will he for a fish give him a serpent? Or if he shall ask an
egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If ye then, being evil, know
how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall
your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask
him?” Luke 11:9-13
ASKING
Prayer is learnt! Don’t just ask and stop. When you ask for something and a
man does not want to give you, he could be pretending not to have heard
you! To make assurance double sure, you have to call his attention by
asking again and again – importunity! Definitely, as you ask, you must
draw his attention to where you are.
When you ask for a thing and one seems not to have heard you, do you just
keep quiet? Why then do we so easily give up in our prayers? No matter
what lesson you may think God wants you to learn by the delay in your
receiving your answers, you must know that God’s will and desire is for you
to receive what you are asking for; for he has said:
If you understand what the kingdom is about and what it means for the
father to give you the Kingdom, you will be at permanent peace.
Take this word: he that asks and continues asking, receives! You will surely
receive in the name of Jesus Christ!
41
SEEKING
A word for you: somebody reading this book now is thinking and saying:
Will my own situation ever change? Will it ever happen to me? God is
saying: Change your mentality, your situation is not difficult, you are the
one delaying your miracle, step into faith, believe the word of God, your
miracle is going to break forth!
To seek is to search out for something. When you are seeking, if you don’t
see it here, you search elsewhere, you continue till you find. Now, scripture
is not saying you should move about from place to place to find your
solution. It is saying, since you want a solution, check first within your life,
check in the context of God’s word, you can search or seek out why you have
not received, from your scriptures, then, re-position yourself on the right
footing and you will get it. Until you seek it, you will never find it!
Hear this: it is he that seeketh and continues seeking that finds! Whatever
it is that you seek, May you find it in the name of Jesus Christ!
KNOCKING
42
will never open the door! In fact, as you knock, the one inside may even
pretend not to hear your knocks. Listen, don’t just knock once and go away,
thinking that nobody is inside, that is what some people are doing and
that’s why they don’t see open doors! Keep knocking; somebody may be
there. As you knock, may doors be opened unto you from today in the name
of Jesus Christ!
“And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought
always to pray, and not to faint; Saying, There was in a city a
judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man: And there
was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying,
Avenge me of mine adversary. And he would not for a while: but
afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor
regard man; Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge
her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. And the Lord
43
said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. And shall not God
avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though
he bear long with them? I tell you that he will avenge them
speedily” Luke 18:1-8
If you don’t become importunate in your prayers your life may become
impotent of miracles! Scripture says: And he would not for a while. By
implication, it is possible that your prayers may have been delayed for a
while, and now, you want to give up. When you give up, you have only
proved that your strength is small! Don’t give up; what makes you think
that you are not the next person on God’s line up of people to release their
overdue miracles? It is your turn to receive, go for importunate praying,
keep knocking, the door is about to be opened for you; if you stop a step
before it gets opened, it will no longer be opened. Importunity releases
opportunity! May you not miss your own, in the name of Jesus Christ!
PRAYER 301
3. Esther 5:1-3 – Oh! Lord, clothe me with such favour that even people
who naturally would not have helped me will be forced to do it in the name
of Jesus Christ!
44
4. Esther 6:1-10 – Every miracle, promotion, favour or lifting belonging
to me but has been hanging for years, be re-visited in the spirit realm and
manifest physically from today in the name of Jesus Christ!
5. Esther 8:3-8 – From today, I re-write, over rule and overturn every
evil decree made against me in the name of Jesus Christ!
6. Acts 2:47 – I Pray for daily increase in life and ministry from today in
the name of Jesus Christ!
45
CHAPTER 3: HOW PRAYER PRODUCES
DELIVERANCE
“And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil” Luke
11:4
Jesus taught that we should pray this way. Every day, you should ask God
not to lead you into temptation. Look at where he wants to lead you:
God wants to lead you along the way where you will not have any trouble!
Therefore, to be free, to overcome, pray that God will not lead you into
temptation. In your prayers, you are to ask God for deliverance! Ask that
God should deliver you from evil! There is evil all around, but, in your place
of prayer, you can break the evil powers for, when you ask God to deliver
you, he will take over! Don’t play again begin to pray! If you refuse to
pray, you will enter into temptation, and you will continually experience
evil around your life.
You must therefore: “Watch and pray, that ye enter not into
temptation…” Matt. 26:41
WATCHING:
46
supposed to be aware of our environment (Physical and Spiritual), we
should be aware of the happenings around us so that we are helped by the
things we know that is by the knowledge we have, and as such, we are able
to direct our prayers appropriately. In another dimension, watching
involves the act of security; in watching, we take our places like security
men, looking after a place, we ward off criminals and attackers and protect
what and who we are supposed to be looking after. In brief in this place,
watching will entail your being strictly awake, parading seriously over
whatever your concerns are and taking the issues back to God the Master
and Overall Security Chief, to inform him about the happenings with and
around you and consequently asking for his intervention in your affairs or
in the affairs of whoever or and whatever it is you are watching over!
Before his crucifixion, on the mountain with his disciples, scripture says:
You can see from the foregoing that truly, even in sorrow, when it is most
difficult to pray, Jesus says pray, else, the worst will happen! You will enter
into temptation! Today, learn this: No matter what you’re going through,
even in sorrow, when you’ve lost somebody, when it seems the world has
crumbled over you, your solution remains prayer! God surely will help you!
In prayer, you must be conscious. Watch and pray, and God will deliver you
from every impending danger.
47
CONSIDER PETER’S DELIVERANCE
If you follow that scriptural story very well, you will realize that it only
remained a day for peter to be executed, brethren refused to give up! That is
why Jesus taught us to pray: “… Deliver us from evil”. No wonder he says:
48
“The angel of the LORD encampeth round about them that fear
him, and delivereth them” Psalm 34:7
Brethren continued to pray, petitioning God to deliver Peter and God sure
did! He sent his angel and made Peter a free man! Hallelujah! You will
surely be free in the name of Jesus Christ!
Prayer produces deliverance! Had the church not prayed, the same
way Herod killed James, he would have killed Peter! Stop playing and pray.
Your miracle could be stopped by prayerlessness! Pray, call forth what
belongs to you. Jesus has told us what to do, obey, do it, and you will be
free.
Don’t miss to pray any day, it is a necessity for your success in life! It is a
weapon you must not miss; you are commanded to pray, as you pray, you
are enabled to choose aright! When you pray, as Christ taught, you order
your daily activities. When you pray, things that have hitherto been difficult
become easy. Pray, for as you pray, the miracle rays of God will spread
above and around your life, as you pray, you inject fruitfulness into your
life. You will never miss it again in the name of Jesus Christ!
49
PRAYER 401
1. 1 Sam. 17:31-37 – Saul gave David the platform upon which he killed
Goliath therefore, everyman ordained by God to give me the platform to be
showcased in business and ministry, manifest in my life in the name of
Jesus Christ!
3. Acts 9:6 – Paul was asked to go into the city where he will be told
what to do therefore, anyone that has knowledge of what I ought to do to
get to my next level in life and ministry, manifest and connect to me in the
name of Jesus Christ!
4. Elijah heard God and knew where to go, Jesus opened the ears of the
deaf to hear clearly, therefore, whatever is blocking my spiritual ears from
hearing God and accessing the right thing to do, be removed from my life in
the name of Jesus Christ!
50
CHAPTER 4 - PRAYING WITH ALL PRAYER
While the intention in this book is not to go into everything about prayer, it
is worth mentioning that several forms of prayer exist: prayers of petition,
of supplication, of intercession, of thanksgiving and more!
Pray vastly, prayer could get where you do not even know. Don’t take it
casually, prayer touches the world! As you pray for those in authority, as
they live a peaceable life, the nations of the world will also have peace! Your
prayer will do it! May God grant you understanding, and may you catch it!
A prayer of intercession is a prayer made on behalf of another person,
nation etc.
Indeed, there are several forms of prayer, therefore, learn the art of prayer,
it will bring the turn around you need in life and ministry!
You must learn prayer watch! In prayer, you watch and check the
operations of men and spirits! Everything that happens in the physical
begins from the spiritual therefore prayer must completely transform your
51
life from the physical, so that you will begin to operate issues of life by
prayers. You must take the night time seriously, by waking up and taking
charge of your life, business, involvements etc. take prayer watch seriously
– the hours mean something, even the lunar seasons can be controlled as
you watch in prayers. Acts 3:1 could give us insight into prayer times:
“Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour
of prayer…”
You can clearly see that even prayer has a time! Get on your watch;
maintain your prayer hour or establish one; you are in for a miracle!
PRAYER 501
2. The Hebrew Children were found ten times better in all matters
therefore, I invoke the power of excellence upon my life from today in the
name of Jesus. Amen.
5. I call forth committed men and women to come forth and be part of
my ministry and business in the name of Jesus. Amen.
52
6. Every power programmed to deter me from walking into
opportunities in life, be destroyed in the name of Jesus. Amen.
7. I pray for right location in life. I must be positioned at the right place
where I will be blessed until I become a blessing in the name of Jesus.
Amen.
53
CHAPTER 5: HINDRANCES TO PRAYER
As we have shown all through this book, God is interested in your receiving
answers to your prayers. He gains nothing if you - his child is suffering! He
is interested in answering your prayer. Whereas that is his interest, the
devil is interested in your not receiving your answers! You must now decide
consciously that you must receive your answers and as such, you must work
towards this objective and fight everything that would want this objective
flawed!
In view of the above, in this last chapter, I wish to simply itemize points and
issues you must take care of, in order that your answers in prayer may
continually be released to you. If you religiously read through this book,
you surely would have discovered that all through the book, hindrances to
prayer have been generally identified. Let’s go through:
4. Not forgiving people who have sinned against us (Mark 11:25-26, Matt.
18:21-25).
54
6. Not adding fasting to your prayers (Mark 9:29)
11. Not praying in agreement either with your spouse, your team, your
prayer partner etc. (Matt. 18:19)
12. Not being importunate in prayer i.e. not praying your prayer to
completion! (Luke 11:5-8, Isaiah 62:6-7, Luke 18:1-8).
13. Not praying to God in his own language i.e. not praying with or by God’s
word
15.Distractions – you are praying, at the same time you are taking phone
calls, talking to other people etc., is God your mate? Are you joking with
him?
3. I and my children will fulfill the destiny and purpose for which God
has created us in the name of Jesus Christ!
55
4. Every gang up of evil powers against my family, be destroyed in the
name of Jesus Christ!
6. Psalm 67:5-6 – I pray from today, let every increase from the earth
due to me and my family be released continually in the name of Jesus
Christ!
56
CONCLUSION
Whatever you don’t know but you desire to do, you must learn. Don’t
depend on others to pray for you, they have their own battles to fight! Arise,
awake, face the battle, carry it to the gate of the enemy. Don’t give up, give
it to God, don’t just look up, look unto God. The way out is not by
complaining, it is by learning the art of prayer.
From today begin to pray, pray with the word, pray with everything inside
you until you get your answers! You will surely get it, God will never
abandon you, neither will he refuse to give you what belongs to you; learn
the art of asking; for he that asketh, receiveth!
57
MOMENT OF RECONCILIATION
If you are not at peace with God, you will live in pieces all your days. It is
not religion, it is not going to Church, it is reconciliation – to be at peace
with God.
If you are not born again, now, with this book still in your hands is the time
to reconcile with God. What do you need to do?
“But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus is the
Christ, the Son of God; and that believing ye might have life
through his name” John 20:31
“That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and
shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the
dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth
unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made
unto salvation” Rom. 10:9-10
1. You need to believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God.
2. Accept the death he died on the cross as a payment for your sins.
3. Confess with your mouth that God raised Jesus from the dead.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son,
that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have
everlasting life. For God sent not his son into the world to
condemn the world; but that the world through him might be
saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that
believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not
58
believed in the name of the only begotten son of God. And this is
the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men
loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil”
John 3: 16-19
Christ did not come to condemn but to give life! During his earthly
ministry, he forgave many their sins and until now, he is still forgiving sins,
but are you ready to choose light? This light is in Christ! Both heaven and
hell fire are for real, the way you choose to follow will determine where you
will ultimately end. Apostle Paul in his writing says:
“It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God”
Hebrews 10: 31 - And again,
With this book still in your hands, decide to receive Jesus Christ and to
serve God henceforth, in spirit and truth. That’s the way out. Therefore,
resign today and re-align with God, for decision determines destiny!
Father, thank you for sending your son who came and paid the price of
my sin on the cross of Calvary. I come to you today in repentance. Receive
and cleanse me. I accept Jesus as my Lord and Saviour. Thank you Lord
for saving me in the name of Jesus Christ.
