Comin’ back home for some ministry and fellowship!!!

Hey everyone!
Well, it’s been another great year,
as we have finished up most of our
projects for 2010 and are looking
forward with much excitement to
2011.
I’m really excited as I’m flying back
to the U.S. on October 19th, to see
my family and friends, take part in
lots and lots of ministry, spend the
rest of the year preparing for the
upcoming 2011 year and all God
has for us, and GET MARRIED!!!!
I’m so super excited about what
God has done this year, as I have
learned a LOT about myself. This
year has been filled with many
challenges, and at times I found
myself very discouraged when in
the middle of them, but when I
time for God to do new and bigger and better things in me and in the lives of others.

cost? How does it affect us personally/spiritually to run away?
Often times, I caught myself feeling

So, I’m believing God for even greater things this upcoming year. Yes, life will bring it’s

This passage from Philippians 4 has given me great encouragement this year:

...I have learned how to be content with whatever I have. I know how to live on almost nothing or with
everything. I have learned the secret of living in every situation, whether it was with a full stomach or
empty, with plenty or little. For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. ...and this
same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given
to us in Christ Jesus.

In the past couple of weeks I was invited to preach at two different churches about 30 minutes from our base camp in El Salvador. I
was so excited to be able to go out into the communities and minister to these churches and share about some of my own
experiences. I thought to myself, “wow! I pray that people are really touched during the services and that God does mighty things in
their lives.” It’s so funny to me, but after ministering in these services, I realized that the churches probably ministered to me more
than I did them. I left so blessed and so touched by the congregations for their generosity and obvious love for others. In both
services, I was truly challenged by their incredible love for God and for each other, and I found myself leaving these churches filled
with the spirit for the way they received me and for their commitment to God. Thanks so much to Pastor Noé and to Pastor Giovani for
allowing me the opportunity to share in their services and for the way that they blessed me ever so abundantly. I pray great things for
their churches, and can’t wait to connect with them again in the future.

This is Spencer Norwood. Spencer has been down to Guatemala and

El Salvador to work with us 3 times within the last 2 years. Most
recently though, he came by himself to work with me for a month.
I was so thankful to have him down here, as he worked so hard with
me on quite a few projects that we have going on at our base camp,
and it was a huge blessing having him here when we went ministering
in the communities.
I pray huge blessings for Spencer in his life for his huge sacrifice in
coming down here to serve. Thanks so much Spencer!
Spencer gave me permission to share this quote with you in regards to
his experience in coming down here. I thought it might speak to some
of you who have considered being part of a short-term missions trip,
but never have:

“One of the best things I’ve ever done for myself. Taking yourself out of your routine, away from your
friends, your home, and your distractions leaves you with only one thing, God. The best way to get more
God in your life is to make room for Him. Even though I came to El Salvador to help Doug with his
house and just hang out, I ended up getting way more out of the trip then I expected. I’ve never felt closer
to God and I’ve never felt more blessed.” Spencer Norwood, Brainerd, Minnesota

Hey everyone,
Thanks again for all your prayers and support. Believe me when I say this... as amazing
as this year has been, God is going to do even bigger things in 2011, and we can’t wait to be a
part of what He is doing.
Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers as we are preparing for next
year and for all the ministry we will be doing in the U.S. from October to January.
Many wonderful changes are coming our way in the upcoming months, so please pray for
smooth transitions and for God’s divine provision as we continue to serve Him on the missions
field.
Love you all tons and tons and you are all in our thoughts and prayers.
God bless, Doug
