4.1 Measurement Problems and Recommendations

Before the product parts are produced in the form of drawings, we need to know the
dimensions for each part of the product. In order to get the exact dimensions for the product parts,
they are measured by using Vernier caliper, ruler and protractor. While measuring the parts, there
were some problems that occur. The Vernier caliper has a unique measuring scale and is sometimes
difficult to read. Thus, it can lead to reading errors, because concentration and good eyesight are
required.

As the Vernier caliper has a unique measuring scale, users must master the techniques to
read a Vernier caliper before taking measurements. Therefore, we use digital Vernier caliper
instead of traditional Vernier caliper. Digital Vernier caliper is easier to use and more accurate
compared to normal Vernier caliper. In addition, it is recommended that take at least 3
measurements of dimensions to determine the exact measurement.
