I should get 8 for this criteria.

What information did you bring from IS to Design? (use examples)

For this unit, we needed to choose a goal and do researches in order to learn more about the goals. I’ve chosen climate action for the goal I want
to work on. Based on IS class, an example I brought was the research organiser. we use research organiser to organise our information, so I
used organiser to research things about climate actions, I also made a research question for the organiser. I was able to talk about the problems
with people before starting to think about the problems and solutions. For example, I’ve make a column about what causes climate change, and I
analyzed each of my ideas for solutions, then I could come up with the final decision. In summary, I brought the background information that were
needed for my project (solution) from IS class, and that helped me to create more ideas for the solution and look in many perspectives with the
problem, also to create a best fit solution for my problem.
(paragraph frame: “An example of information that I brought from IS to Design is _____ .”)
What information did you bring from Design to IS? (use examples)

In design class, an example of what I brought primary and secondary sources. We separate information into primary and secondary sources, and
that helps us to identify the informations weather is trustable or not. And we are always thinking about creative ways for an idea, including when
thinking about the ways to show informations. I brought the information about primary and secondary sources, and so I could identify them in my
analysis and use it to explain.
(paragraph frame: “An example of information that I brought from Design to IS is _____ .”)

What Skills did you bring from IS to Design? (use examples)

The skill I brought from IS to design could be organising the informations. As we needed a lot of informations for our global goals, in order to start
our project, the research organiser helps as to organise the informations we need, and it’s kept in a document, so we can go back and review if
we want, also this is good for making decision. In the organiser, I analyzed some solutions, and compared them together, so I was able to come
up with the best one, and the best fit to my specification. I also brought the skill of making citations, so my works are all cited and safe.
(paragraph frame: “An example of the skills that I brought from IS to Design is _____ .”)

What Skills did you bring from Design to IS ? (use examples)

The skill I brought from Design to IS could be creative thinking and ways to achieve an expectation. We created our specifications after
researching, and we use several ways to present our ideas, for example using diagrams and annotations, also explain the pros and cons for each
ideas, they are organised into tables. Last we presented our final ideas and compared it with our specifications. Which these skills are great for
communications, by using different kinds of ways to analyze and make decisions based on analysis.
(paragraph frame: “An example of the skills that I brought from Design to IS is _____ .”)

What new understanding do you have after combining these two classes? (use examples)

After combining the two subjects I gained a deeper understanding of how to create a project to achieve a particular goal like this, and I knew what
are the skills I need in order to achieve the goals. For example, we created the whole process by following the design cycles, it has steps that tell
me what to do and how to create a solution, while doing that I’m lack of information about my goals, so IS helped me to research and get
information that I wanted. When I’m doing both things together, everything was perfect, because I got ready for everything I need. I also
understood that when doing a project, I sometimes need more background informations and other things that will help me and contribute my
project, I should prepare different things before starting a project, not just starting it by knowing nothing.
(paragraph frame: “After combining the two subjects I gained a deeper understanding of ____ . For example _____ .”)

Criterion D: Reflecting
- reflect on the development of their own interdisciplinary understanding
- evaluate the benefits and limitations of disciplinary and interdisciplinary knowledge and ways of knowing in
specific situations.

What I need to do…

● Reflect on yourself as a learner in InS and Design classes and in the IDU (the combination of both subjects)
○ YELLOW FIELDS WILL GO ON YOUR REPORT CARD

● Reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of having IDUs

● Set goals for the future.

○ YELLOW FIELDS WILL GO ON YOUR REPORT CARD

I should get 8 for this criteria.

Reflecting on yourself (strand 1)

What was your biggest SUCCESS in Design?

My biggest success in Design was documenting my process and finding out the solutions. By using design cycle, I could
design a solution for my goal based on the need, by comparing them to my specifications, I was able to come up with the best
idea that fits my specification. I documented well when making the solution, I recorded every step I did and I took pictures
while creating solutions. They are detailed and it was very easy, people could follow my steps as instructions and do the same
things I did.

What was your biggest CHALLENGE in Design?

The biggest challenge was to show up in public place. My solution for my goal was creating a Facebook page, and that was the
first time for me to do these things, and it was hard to get followers, because I only have a short period of time, and I could not
post as much posts as I can. It is a part of the creating process which I didn’t do so well, I did not use my time wisely, I
should’ve started to post my informations as I created the page, so it would save some time.
(paragraph frame: “My biggest success/challenge in Design was _____ because _____ . An example of this is ______ .”)

What was your biggest SUCCESS in Individuals and Societies?

My biggest success was organising the informations. Because I used research organiser, so I was able to put my informations
together and in categories, also it helped me when I want to find informations while doing design work. The organiser was
organised well so I could think about my solutions and get ideas from the information.

What was your biggest CHALLENGE in Individuals and Societies?

The biggest challenge were looking for right information and using a correct way to cite the sources. Because It took me weeks
to research and find the information I want, while looking for informations, I was also considering the quality of the sources, it
took me a lot of time doing that too. For the APA style citations, I was not familiar with it, so it was hard for me to find out how
to cite.
(paragraph frame: “My biggest success/challenge in Individuals and Societies was _____ because _____ . An example of this is ______ .”)
What was your biggest SUCCESS in the Interdisciplinary Unit?

The biggest success was coming up with a solution with reasonable purpose. Because by combining the two units, I could be
able to find out the solutions better based on the informations I have. Design and IS work perfectly for finding my solutions,
design helps me organise my expectations and document my ideas for the solution. IS helps me to make my specifications
based on the knowledge I learned and analyze the best solution.

What was your biggest CHALLENGE in Interdisciplinary Unit?

My biggest challenge in IDU was just having two class working together. I was confused at the first time, I didn’t know what to
do for the works for Design and IS. We needed to do organisers and also the design cycle, I didn’t know where to start for the
two units.
(paragraph frame: “My biggest success/challenge in the IDU was _____ because _____ . An example of this is ______ .”)

How did combining InS and Design help you understand the Statement of Inquiry better? (use examples)

1: IS class helped us to find out the problems, 2: We design a solution for the problem that 3: In this whole unit, we are just looking for the
the cause and the effect of the problem, and we already know. Which are the global goals. problems, and solving it with our own solutions
Design class helped us to solve the problem By creating our solutions to solve them. This that we created. By using organiser and the

and solve it with a creative way. in this unit.

What are the strengths of studying things as Interdisciplinary Units? (use examples)

A strength of studying things interdisciplinarily is many skills are included and we use them around to help us to achieve the goals. For example,
we get information for IS class, and use that information for our design solution. Combining two skills help both of the class and these informations
could also be used with other classes. Therefore we would achieve our goals better.
(paragraph frame: “A strength of studying things interdisciplinarily is _____ . An example of this is ______ .”)

What are the weaknesses of studying things as Interdisciplinary Units? (use examples)

The weakness of study things in interdisciplinarily is that while combining the two units, we will have 3 things to focus on, design, IS, and IDU. The
works require large amount of time. And as we are focusing on the IDU, we learn less amount of things for each individual classes, we take more
time for the IDU class, we also learn things from the individual classes, however it will be easy to be mixed up.
(paragraph frame: “A weakness of studying things interdisciplinarily is _____ . An example of this is ______ .”)

Goal Setting for the End of the Unit
(Will show up on your Report card)

What is your SMART goal for the next unit of DESIGN?

SPECIFIC My goal is to create a good solutions/product.

(what is your goal?)

MEASURABLE I could test it and also compare to my specifications.

(what does success look like?)

ATTAINABLE - Research more informations

(what are the steps to success?) - More ideas
- Creative and detailed specifications

RELEVANT Because it is importance for design class, good solutions/products means I achieve my goals better.
(why is this an important goal?)

TIMELY I will achieve my goal in next quarter, when I have another project to do.
(when will you achieve it?)

(paragraph frame: “By (timely) I will (specific) by (attainable) . I chose this goal because (relevant). Success will look like (measurable).”)

What is your SMART goal for the next unit of INDIVIDUALS AND SOCIETIES?
SPECIFIC My goal is to learn how to make a APA style citation by myself (not with website machine).
(what is your goal?)

MEASURABLE I will be creating it and put them in my works.

(what does success look like?)

ATTAINABLE - Search online for APA style citations.

(what are the steps to success?) - Practice how to make them.

RELEVANT Because we always use websites for information, the main thing we do in IS class is research. When doing
(why is this an important goal?) work, it’s important to cite the source, and so it's important to learn how to make the citations.
TIMELY I will learn how to do it in my free time.
(when will you achieve it?)

(paragraph frame: “By (timely) I will (specific) by (attainable) . I chose this goal because (relevant). Success will look like (measurable).”)
