Campus Improvements Begin Thanks to Beacon of Hope Campaign – and YOU!

This CCC Advancement Review 2017-18 is our report on the school’s recent fiscal year, which concluded on June 30, 2018.
This year we also recognize and salute those who gave to the school’s successful Beacon of Hope Campaign – which has
raised over $5.7 million, exceeding our goal by over $500,000!

After years of praying, planning, and pushing, the progress is now becoming evident. Cleveland Central Catholic’s Beacon
of Hope Campaign raised $5.7 million dollars in commitments – and the school is putting those dollars to good use! The
Campaign will fund five priorities that will help position our school for continued success, while enhancing the Central
Catholic experience for our students.

The five priorities of the Campaign’s case statement included: capital improvements, endowment funding, special education
strengthening, Central Catholic Fund growth, and completion of hospitality facilities at Stefanski Stadium. Over the summer,
CCC embarked on three separate construction projects that will dramatically improve our campus for our students, families,
guests and our community.

Most notably, construction has begun for a new (and much needed!) parking lot at the corner of East 67th Street and Baxter
Avenue. The new parking lot is near the school’s main entrance, will have angled parking spaces, and will be one-way from
Baxter Avenue to Forman Avenue. The lot features 38 spaces, with some reserved for ADA access and guest parking. This
addition will improve pedestrian safety and reduce congested traffic caused by parking on the narrow streets adjacent to the
campus.

Another key upgrade will be to replace the steam heat system in the original school building. The building dates to 1921 and
there are places that either get too warm or too cold. The new HVAC system will deliver a more balanced thermal solution
that will also help keep the building cool in the hotter months. Building preparation began this summer and will continue
through next summer.

Thanks to a generous gift of $500,000 from the Third Federal Foundation, CCC was able to finally complete the long-delayed
construction of hospitality facilities at Stefanski Stadium. Construction on this building should be completed by December.
Funding for CCC’s Special Education program and the Central Catholic Fund also grew thanks to attention brought by the
Beacon of Hope Campaign.

That’s why we are so grateful to God – and you – every day for the many blessings that have been bestowed upon the
Cleveland Central Catholic community. We thank all who pray for our school, who support our students and their dreams,
and who provide the financial resources needed to advance the mission of Catholic education in our city. Your commitment
empowers our students and their families, which also benefits their neighborhoods and our broader community.

We are, of course, also grateful to all the adults who supported the progress that our students made. This includes our
outstanding faculty, our dedicated staff, and our extraordinary Advisory Board members, and other volunteers who help us
in so many important ways. Finally, we wish to also salute our students, who embrace this encouragement and assume their
responsibilities. Bravo!

Most gratefully,

John E. Cvetic Leo P. Hyland

Chair, Advisory Board President

Calcutta 2018
Wednesday, March 14

The 15th Annual Calcutta

Auction grossed more
than $164,000 for tuition
assistance. Calcutta is the
school’s signature fundraiser
featuring a live and silent auction. The live portion features
bidding on the 64 teams competing in the NCAA’s March
Madness tournament. Mobile bidding continued to play a
key role in the success of the silent auction which allowed access to
the auction to individuals whether or not they were in attendance
at Calcutta. Thanks to a generous board member, CCC was again
able to raffle off a week at a luxurious vacation home on Hilton
Head. Another generous donor contributed an unaccompanied
foursome on the Muirfield tournament course, including dinner
and overnight accommodations. Event co-chairs were John Simon
’72 and Jim Klessel and the committee was rounded out by John
Cvetic, Allyn Davies, Brian Ferry and Maggie Musnuff.
Thanks to our Calcutta Sponsors: Third Federal Foundation, Ancora Advisors, Aon, Benesch,
