The growth rate of pharmaceutical industries in Bangladesh

Bangladesh pharmaceutical industry is mainly dominated by domestic manufacturers. Before 1982

there were about 10 multinational companies availing about 80% of the domestic market. The
situation is reverse now. Of the total pharmaceutical market of Bangladesh, the local companies
are enjoying a market share reaching around 90%, while the multinational companies are having
a market share of around 10%.
There are approximately 200 pharmaceutical companies active in the market at the moment. All
of the companies registered under the regulatory body of the country called DGDA (Directorate
General of Drug Administration).

Pharmaceuticals Industry of Bangladesh. This shows that from 2013-14 to 2016-17. The growth
of Pharmaceuticals industry of Bangladesh exceeds the GDP growth of Bangladesh.
