Group Assignment 2(10%)


Roles and responsibilities of an engineer related to accident investigation and
reporting.

1. Instruction:
a. This assignment will be carried out in group.
b. Each group consists of 3- 6 members.

2. Things To Do:
 Investigate the roles and responsibilities of engineers related to accident
investigation and reporting. (select only 1 industry).
 Students can choose any related industries, workshops, laboratories or
working area either within UTHM campus, other university campuses or
private companies. Make sure only one group attend to one case study site.
 The case study information can be obtained through interview, journals,
books, conference proceedings, technical reports, news reports, broadcast/tv
reports or company magazine/profile.
 Relate the case study findings with relevant Occupational Safety and Health
Act (OSHA) 1994, Factories and Machinery Act (FMA) 1967,
Environmental Quality Act 1974, Occupational Health, Safety and
Environment Management System standards /guidelines and/or
theories/procedure/standard practices for accident investigation and
reporting.

3. Outcomes
a. Presentation (Recorded video)
i. Each group is expected to submit their short video presentation in
Week 14 (5-10 minute video presentation. Make sure the video does
not exceed 10 minutes limit).
ii. Language: English
b. A complete presentation slides printout (with proper in-text citations and
references)
i. Each group is expected to submit the presentation slides (hardcopy
and softcopy) in Week 14. The softcopy must be submitted to the
web-based platform identified by the lecturers (either Dropbox,
Edmodo, UTHM Author, Google Drive or etc.).
ii. Language: English

4. Assessment criteria (10 marks)

 Communication - Perform effective communication in solving problems


related to safety and health (P5, LO3) – 10%
Presentation (Recorded video)
Responsiveness Addresses all issues/questions in a manner that
demonstrate a thorough command of the topic of
the presentation
Delivery Delivery is varied and dynamic. Rate of speech,
volume and tone enhance listener understanding
and interest
Ability to use technology Hand made visual-audio with interesting clip-art,
graphs, tables, charts and/or multimedia

Presentation Slides
Organization Contain an introduction, body and conclusion.
Supporting points are presented logically and have
elaboration
Supporting material Ideas are well developed with the use of examples
or evidence. Information and/or analysis provided
establishes credibility and authority on the topics
Language Language is appropriate, professional and is
compelling to the audience
